Classes

Aerial Hoops

Hoops class is offered to acro students who are over half way through their level 2 acro card. Students who take hoops class must also be enrolled in Acro. Aerial Hoops requires arm and core strength and the ability to do acro skill on the ground in order to do them in the hoop. We have four aerial rigs in our studio so that we can have four dancers working at a time. Our hoops students do an in studio showcase in May since we are not able to rig the hoops at our show venue.

Acrobatic Arts

Pre-Acro starts at age 3 and is included in the combo class for age 3-4. Acro 1 starts at age 5 at which time students will progress through the levels at their own pace with level cards and monthly testing. Acrobatic arts teaches skills like cartwheels, bridge, walkovers, etc but incorporates dance technique to make a more fluent performance. Our acro students progress safely, building strength while working on set skills for that level until they have mastered them. This helps prevent injury from throwing a skill before their bodies are strong enough to do it.

Baton

We offer baton starting at age 7. Baton twirling is an artistic style that incorporates dance with manipulating one or more batons. Our baton classes work with a level card system. Twirlers test their skills each month to progress though the levels to harder skills. Our twirlers also get to march in the Satsuma and Saraland Christmas parades and the Saraland Mardi Gras Parade.

Hip Hop

We offer hip hop starting at age 7. Our hip hop class uses appropriate movement while still teaching musicality and hip hop style. Hip Hop is a fun class for dancers to express themselves and build confidence.

Modern/Contemporary

We offer modern starting at age 7. Modern dance is an exploration of movement to express ideas and concepts. Modern dance uses abstract and technical movement. This class is a fun way for dancers to become artist themselves. We use a lot of improv in this class to allow dancers to create movement and think outside the box.

Tap

We offer tap starting at age 3. Tap is in the combo class for ages 3-6. It is important for teaching basic rhythm and musicality. We offer levels 1-3 for our dancers age 7 and up to progress through learning more difficult skills as they master each level.

Jazz

We offer jazz starting at age 5. Jazz requires a bit more coordiation and therefore it becomes easier once dancers have had time to develop basic movement skills. Jazz is fast and fun with upbeat music and personality.

Ballet

We offer ballet starting at age 3. Our baby ballet class (age 3-6) teaches the foundation of technique and movement. Level 1 ballet adds to that foundation progressing in ballet terminology and technique, building strength. Level 2 ballet continues to add vocabulary and strength. Level 3 ballet allows dancers the option to test for pointe shoes at age 12 once they have progressed through level 1 and 2. It is important that dancers feet and ankles are tested for pointe shoes to make sure they have the proper strength to prevent injury.
