Alabama Dance Academy

This class explores the foundations of Tap and Jazz.

This is an introductory class for our youngest students. Students will learn body awareness, beginning ballet and tap steps as well as correct terminology and the joy of moving to music.

Classes will focus on strengthening and stretching the body specifically geared for dancers.

This class offers a structured way of learning the basics of Hip Hop street dance movements in a fun and vibrant environment.

This class focuses on the basics of contemporary dance technique. Students will explore expression and abstract concepts in dance performance as well as weight, momentum and gravity used in dance.

Jazz is an expressive style of dance that blends current musical and dance trends with performance dance that is seen on television and the Broadway stage.

Tap is a form of dance that allows the dancer's body to be used as a rhythm instrument through intricate footwork, syncopated sounds and stylized movement.

Pointe work is an extension of Classical Ballet offered to students who have achieved a level of strength required.

This class introduces students to the foundations of classical ballet and allows students to build on their knowledge and skills as they grow. Ballet is a beautiful art form that requires dedication and discipline on the part of the student. Ballet training is an excellent form of exercise for all ages, toning and strengthening the entire body and helping to increase flexibility, coordination and proper posture.

The Alabama Dance Academy Summer Intensive is a four-week summer study for dance students who have previous dance training. In addition to classical ballet, students will explore various forms of dance and music in an exciting and positive environment. All students will receive a minimum of four classes, plus rehearsals. Summer Intensive will culminate with a performance. Classes will be offered in: Classical Ballet, Pointe and Variations, Contemporary, Tap,Jazz, Pilates Stretch and Exercise, Character and Choreography.

June classes are offered to Division II and up or by invitation only. Classes will be from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm each day. Classes will include Ballet, Pointe or Pre-Pointe, and either Jazz, Contemporary, Conditioning or other discipline.

The Alabama Dance Academy Summer Dance Camp is an intensive one-week summer camp for dance students ages 5 and up. In addition to classical ballet, students will explore various forms of dance and music in an exciting and positive environment. Camps will culminate with a performance featuring music from beloved fairy tales. Classes will be offered in: Classical Ballet, Variations, Jazz, Contemporary, Pilates Stretch and Exercise and Character.
