BALLROOM

Ballroom consists of a variety of influences, including samba, jive, waltz, cha cha, rumba, salsa, tango, and more. At DDC, Ballroom classes do not use partners and focus on footwork, standard technique, terminology, and performance skills.

Leaps & Turns

Pointe

Dancers who wish to dance en pointe will need to take at least one ballet class per week, have at least one year of training in ballet, be at least 11 years old, and be approved by an instructor. These dancers will be taken to a pointe shoe fitting with an instructor to get the perfect shoe for their physique and then will be able to begin taking pointe classes!

Pre-Pointe

Pre-pointe is designed to give dancers the tools to prepare for pointe. From strengthening legs to learning how to sew pointe shoes, pre-pointe is a great supplemental class for serious dancers. Dancers will not be en pointe in this class, but strengthen their muscles to prepare for pointe shoes in the future.

Pom

Pom uses in high energy choreography and strong technique to create entertaining performances for teams and audiences. Focusing on sharp movements and teamwork, dancers use poms during and incorporate jazz and hip hop moves in their routines.

Modern

Typically referred to as one of the "big three" styles of western dance, modern dance uses technique derived in the late 19th century to tell stories and challenge the regimen of classical ballet. From Graham to Horton, dancers can train in several different techniques of modern dance.

Musical Theater

Deriving from the big stages of New York, musical theater allows dancers to overtly tell a story through gestures and song. This style gives dancers the confidence to take up the stage and show off their acting and performance skills! At DDC, musical theater focuses on building acting skills and learning dance basics to effectively perform Broadway choreography.
