About Studio One

Studio One, located in downtown Chico, California, is a vibrant dance studio with a rich history, established in June 2006 and bringing over 22 years of teaching and social dance experience. Led by Owner/Operator/GM Luke Scherba and Kylee Scherba, Studio One offers a diverse curriculum designed for all levels, fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment. Students can explore a wide array of dance styles including Ballet, Hip Hop, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Salsa, Flamenco, Zumba, Acrobatics, Aerial, Bachata, Ballroom, Barre, Belly Dance, Breakdance, K-Pop, Line Dancing, and Lyrical. Specific class offerings include introductory Belly Dance with Vanessa Ricketson and West Coast Swing with Megan Grandfield, who also leads technique workshops. Studio One prioritizes personalized progress through private lessons, available by appointment Monday through Friday, 8 am to 8 pm, with flexible 45-minute sessions and package discounts; no partner or prior experience is required. The studio also hosts Latin Social Dancing events featuring Cumbia, Banda, and Merengue, cultivating a strong community atmosphere. Studio One is dedicated to igniting passion for dance, building confidence, and providing an accessible and enriching destination for aspiring dancers in Chico.

Private Lessons in Partner Dancing

One-on-one instruction is a highly effective way of learning dance. Through private lessons individual needs and skills can be addressed, enabling students to learn and progress far more rapidly than group classes.

Night Club Two Step

This classic social dance is smooth and elegant. Night Club Two Step is an easy to learn social dance that will get you and your partner on the dance floor fast. Danced to contemporary, RnB, Pop and romantic top 40’s music. Join Us

An elaborate and intimate dance, Argentine tango is fulled with technique and skill. Originating from a fusion of European immigrants and Argentine cattle workers in the brothels in the late 1800’s Join Us

West Cost Swing Course

The most modern of the swing dances, West Coast Swing can be danced to a variety of Top 40’s and Pop music. This course will get you moving to Funk, Blues, Pop, RnB, Hip Hop or EDM. Join Us

This saucy and energetic dance will get your feet moving to a salsa beat. Covering the basics of frame, rhythm and spins, this course will get you started dancing on the social floor. Join Us

Jitterbug Swing Course

The easiest of the swing dances, Jitterbug or single time swing is a great intro to the swing dances. In this course, dancers will learn the basics of rhythm, frame and turns. Join Us

Four week Course

Our four-week course will teach you the basics of Partner Dancing in a small group private setting. We will cover the basics of frame, rhythm and add a few dance moves to leave you feeling confident to go out on the town for a night of dancing!
