BALLET

Tap

Students learn proper tap technique and develop coordination. A sense of rhythm, clarity of sounds, and precision in advanced choreography is the class emphasis.

Polynesian

Polynesian dances come from the islands of the Pacific Ocean, such as Hawaii, Tahiti, Cook Islands, Samoa, Tonga, New Zealand etc. The dances have strong connection to the islands' culture and therefore it's essential to understand their ethnic nature. Both Hula and Tahitian (Ori) basics are taught in class. Students learn correct terminology and technique in both ancient and modern styles.

Musical Theatre

Classes are taught to vocalize and work as an ensemble in a song and dance routine. Students train their voices, face, and body as they prepare to sing, dance, and play their favorite characters in Broadway musical revues. A thorough knowledge of characterization, dramatization, interpretation of music and the story is achieved as the students learn to perform.

Jazz

Students use ballet technique as the foundation to strengthening this form of dance. Isolations, extensions, and contractions are integrated into achieving a balanced knowledge of modern, classical, and popular jazz movements.

Hip Hop

As a part of our Hip Hop Department, students will gain confidence and a sense of community as they get their bodies bouncing and rocking. Students will explore rhythm, musicality, coordination, and body awareness through Hip Hop techniques, foundations, and fundamentals!

Ballet

Students build muscle strength and toning, enhance proper posture and carriage, and develop grace and coordination. Two technique styles are used: Royal Academy of Dance and Vaganova.

Ballet & Tap

This class combines ballet and tap techniques. Students are introduced to the fundamentals of these two dance forms in a fun and entertaining way. Building self-esteem, enhancing the child's ability to interact with the class, and developing team effort are additional positive benefits a student gains from the class.

The Performance Program

The Performance Program is patterned after a young performing company. The youngest students train as the junior members and they advance into junior apprentice, apprentice and company status. They represent the school at competitions and dance festivals, nationally and internationally. The training intensity is high and excellent attendance with a strong commitment is required to remain in the program. Students enroll for a set number of hours for technique and rehearsal classes. The number of classes per week varies and is dependent on their level or status. Placement in the program is by audition.

The General School

The General School offers a wide range of classes for children who want to take dance for exercise, coordination, discipline and fun. In this program, the student will achieve an understanding and appreciation of the art form. The intensity of training is low with students meeting only for an hour once or twice a week. Students train for the exercise and the joy of performing but not for a professional career. Students prepare for the annual recital showing the routine they learned in class. Classes are grouped by age and skill level.
