Classes

Pre-professional classical ballet program

The Hawkins Pre-Professional Classical Ballet Program is designed for dedicated ballet dancers who wish to focus intensively on classical ballet training to refine their technique and artistry. This program provides a structured curriculum emphasizing ballet technique and pointe work, preparing dancers to achieve their individual ballet goals in a supportive and rigorous environment under the guidance of our experienced ballet instructors. Hawkins Performing arts company

Hawkins invites dancers seeking more intensive training and performance opportunities to audition for the Hawkins Performing Arts Company (HPAC). This program is designed to develop versatile performers offering training across multiple dance disciplines, guided by a highly skilled team of directors and dedicated teachers committed to enhancing each dancer’s technique, artistry, and performance quality.

Competition classes

Competition classes are for dancers looking to compete in a specific style. These audition-based classes will perform in Spooktacular, Showcase, and compete one group piece at two competitions throughout the season. Additional fees will apply for participation, entry, and costuming.

Delayed Reaction

Delayed Reaction is an audition-based program designed for experienced Hip Hop dancers ages 11 and up. Dancers in this program will perform in Spooktacular, Showcase, and compete at select competitions throughout the season. Additional fees apply for participation, productions, competition entries, and costuming.

Open Program

Our Open Program promotes the joy of movement at every level, allowing performers to choose their preferred disciplines (ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, musical theater, acting and voice) and build an individual schedule that fits their needs, giving students the opportunity to learn, grow, and express themselves at their own pace. Our Open Program invites all ages and stages of life from youngsters ages 3+ to (ageless) seniors.

Musical Theatre

With the River City Theatre Company (RCTC) experience live musical theatre--SING, ACT, DANCE on stage without an audition or with no formal training. RCTC instills self-confidence and discipline, promotes self-esteem and teamwork, and develops a love for live theatre that will last a lifetime. Nobody is turned away. Learn new skills and meet new friends, while having fun.

Live musical theatre workshops offered two or more times a year usually starting in August and January.
Jazzercise

Are you ready for the ultimate confidence infusion and mood booster? Channel your inner pop diva in the original dance party workout with music you love and hear on the radio. Blending dance with Pilates, yoga, kickboxing and strength training, one 55-minute session can burn up to 800 calories. The results? Long, lean muscles and an undeniable mood boost, no matter your age. We’ve been part of the Hawkins family since the day the studio opened on Woodmere Drive in 2008, and we love it here.

High-energy and driven by sharp, grounded movements, this class focuses on strength and rhythm through learning hip hop fundamentals and musicality.

Tap

A fun, rhythm-based class where adult dancers of all levels can explore classic and modern tap techniques, building coordination, speed, and musicality.

Pointe 1

For adult dancers who have had at least 2 years of pointe experience, this class builds strength and control with an emphasis on safe alignment and developing pointe technique in a structured and supportive environment.

Ballet Int

Ideal for adult dancers with prior ballet experience. This class emphasizes proper alignment and technique as well as development of new skills for the center.

Ballet Beg/Int

Designed for adult dancers with basic ballet experience. This class will explore ballet fundamentals and refine technique, strength, and flexibility, focusing on classical ballet foundations and more challenging combinations.

Ballet Beg 1/2

Ideal for adult dancers with some prior ballet experience. This class introduces fundamental techniques, focusing on proper alignment, posture, and graceful movement.

Broadway Kids & Broadway Babies

The Broadway Kids (5-12yr) and Broadway Babies (3-5yr) Production classes offer a taste of the professional musical theatre experience in a fun, nurturing and explorative environment that builds the foundations to take the lead. Classes start April 1st, 2023.
