Almitas Dance Academy, established in 2023 and located in Hawthorne, California, is a vibrant studio dedicated to fostering a love for dance in a supportive and engaging environment for the Los Angeles area. Specializing in beginner-friendly Folklorico classes, Almitas welcomes dancers of all ages, from three years old to adults, with no prior experience required. Men and boys are especially encouraged to participate. Beyond its core Folklorico offerings, the academy boasts a diverse curriculum encompassing a wide array of popular dance styles including Acrobatics, Ballet, Ballroom, Barre, Belly Dance, Breakdance, Contemporary, Flamenco, Hip Hop, Jazz, K-Pop, Line Dancing, Lyrical, Modern, Musical Theater, Salsa, Tap, and Zumba. Under the guidance of Director Nancy and instructor Ale / Alejandra, Almitas aims to preserve and celebrate Mexican heritage through the art of Folklorico, while also providing comprehensive dance education across multiple genres. Performance opportunities are a highlight, with students having the chance to showcase their talents at notable venues such as Knott's Berry Farm, Crypto Arena, and Angel Stadium. The academy also offers customized performances for hire, educational assemblies, and interactive workshops. Almitas believes in a holistic approach, integrating fun games and engaging activities, and cultivates community through quarterly get-togethers. While performance is encouraged, it is not a requirement, allowing individuals to join for cultural enrichment and recreation.
