The tuition for a 90-minute class is calculated on a semester basis. You may pay for the entire semester in one lump sum, or for your convenience, the semester tuition can be made through the installment plan. First installments are non-refundable. Tuition installments are due the first class day of the month and must be paid by the 15th of each month. Payments made after the 15th of the month will be considered late. A $35.00 late fee will be applied to past due accounts.

From beginning to advanced levels, students gain a knowledge in the creative and percussive movement that embodies jazz. Jazz allows students to gain a diverse and unique training in movement, flexibility, and styling. Jazz has a combination of ballet and modern techniques. This, along with its own technique and terminology, jazz can be performed in several styles that fit into its unique genre, such as Broadway, Latin Jazz, Classic Jazz, Contemporary, or Lyrical. Jazz is constantly evolving and adapting new styling, but students can easily transition when they receive a foundation of technical training offered at Valley Oak School of Dance. Jazz instruction may begin for students as young as 8. Students turning 8 within the dance year may register for this genre. Students who chose to enroll in jazz are strongly encouraged to study ballet. Class advancement/placement is always under the discretion of the instructor and director.

For those children who may prefer a more energetic dance style, we also offer a classical tap dance program. Classical tap combines upper body movement of ballet and jazz with percussive, syncopated footwork. The dancer essentially creates music and rhythms with their feet. For children ages 3-4 we offer pre-tap classes in which they will learn basic tap steps as well as terminology and creative movement. As students grow, they will be placed in classes according to age and ability.

Ages 3 & Up. As a technical foundation for many genres of dance, Valley Oak School of Dance provides ballet instruction for students of all ages. This technical and theatrical art form uses conventional positions and steps to create an artistry of movement. Students are placed in appropriate levels according to age and ability. Our youngest students, 3-4 year olds, participate in pre- ballet class. These classes use creativity and imagination to introduce the most basic ballet steps. Dance class etiquette is introduced, as well as ballet terminology, rhythm, and locomotive movement. As dancers mature in age, and ability, so does the instruction and discipline of this art form. A greater focus is placed on ballet technique, terminology, artistry, musicality, and performance quality as students progress from level to level. Pointe classes are offered for students aged 13 and up, who have technically trained and are attending a minimum of 3 ballet classes a week. Class placement, as well as advancing to pointe, is always under the discretion of the instructor and director.
