Dance classes begin, Popcorn fundraiser begins. This is an important date for the start of the dance season and a fundraising event.

TIK TOK

is for those who are captivated by the TikTok hype and can't get enough of learning the fun dances! Learn the latest dance combos and crazes with us!

CHEERLEADING

classes focus on motions, jumps, stunts, tumbling, and dance. Students learn the proper techniques and build strength and endurance to push through any competition or game day. Train with former competitive cheerleader and PHS coach Brittney and current PHS cheer captain Nathalia!

PRINCESS BALLET

is for children who dream of a Happily Ever After! Learn the fundamentals of ballet through princess and fairytale themes while wearing your favorite princess dress!

BOUNCING BABES

is a mommy-and-me style class designed for mom and child to dance together. Moms participate and act as their child's guide to learning creative movement, locomotor skills, rhythmic basics, and dance and tumbling technique. Even more than technique, Bouncing Babes offers an opportunity to interact with your child in fun, creative ways!

TECHNIQUE

is designed to improve a dancer’s range of motion, enhance muscle flexibility and increase their level of core muscle strength. Through a variety of stretches and strengthening exercises, dancers will also increase their awareness of their own body’s potential as it connects to expression through movement. Students will improve their technical skills and flexibility. Through a variety of exercises in center and across the floor, students will strengthen their abilities to raise the height and technique of their leaps in addition to proper turn alignment for multiple rotations. Technique does not have a recital dance.

TUMBLE TOTS

follows the same format as the Bouncing Babes class but will incorporate age appropriate dance and tumbling skills. This class will give your child the opportunity to let out their energy and emotions! Tumble Tots will build the confidence and skills needed to start yearly dance classes for recital. Parents are not required for this class, and it does not have a recital dance.

TAP

is the only form of dance that incorporates sound. Developed in the United States during the nineteenth century, tap has become popular all over the world. The name comes from the tapping sound made when the small metal plates on the dancer’s shoes touch a hard floor. This lively, rhythmic tapping makes the performer not just a dancer, but a percussive musician. Tap classes will develop rhythm, style and sound. Students will learn a variety of tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm tap. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. Class emphasis is on developing proper tap technique, producing clear tap sounds, and having fun!

PRE-POINTE/POINTE

Is an extension to ballet, is the advancement of ballet class to hard boxed pointe shoes. Students usually progress to pre-pointe and pointe work between the ages of 9-12 depending on their muscular and skeletal development, as well as their dedication to practice. *Instructor approval required

POM

is the combination of sharp, precise arm movements, and technical skills such as turns, leaps, high kicks and variations of jumps. Pom dance offers training in cheerleading technique with elements of jazz, hip hop, and tumbling collectively to create sharp synchronized movements and visual effects. Dancers will train with pom pons. Taking Pom is a great head start for those students looking to audition for high school cheer/dance teams.

MUSICAL THEATRE

focuses on learning proper dance technique while exploring the various dance styles used in Broadway shows. Class curriculum is based on ballet technique layered with Broadway style jazz movement and includes a proper warm-up, stretches, isolations, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations. Emphasis will also be placed on learning performance skills such as connecting with the audience and telling a story through dance and facial expressions.

JAZZ/TAP COMBO (AGE 4 AND UNDER)

This introductory dance class focuses on the basic dance techniques of ballet, jazz, & tap. It is a technique-based class for preschoolers. Students will do progressions across the floor and learn skills that will improve their dance development. The class will also focus is on the development of coordination, concentration, listening skills and self-confidence, for learning teamwork, and positive interaction. This class is structured and paced for the young learner and is a fun introduction to the joy of dance. This is a great class to prepare for further dance training.

JAZZ

is an umbrella term that refers to several related dance styles including roots from tap, ballet, jazz music and African-American rhythms and dance. Originating from the African American vernacular dance, jazz dance evolved from a number of influences including Vaudeville and Broadway. Jazz class will focus on learning proper dance technique such as isolations of the body, improving performance quality, and developing complex rhythms and patterns. Students will be exposed to various styles of jazz such as Broadway, Street and Contemporary to help develop a well-rounded dancer. Curriculum is based on ballet technique layered with traditional jazz movement and includes a proper warm-up, stretches, isolations, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations.

HIP HOP

is a high energy, athletic, popular dance style originated on the streets in the late 80’s with break dancing. Hip hop classes infuse the latest styles of street dancing, breaking, popping, and locking. Dancers in this genre strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements.

BALLET

is the foundation of all dance. Its origins stem from Italy. It is a highly technical form of dance with its own vocabulary. It is best known in the form of classical, but can additionally include neoclassical and contemporary ballet. Each class begins with a ballet barre, moves to a center floor adage, petite and grand allegro, and concludes with a formal grand reverence. Students will learn terminology in French, correct body alignment, how to improve their natural turn-out and develop a love for the most graceful living art.

ACROBATICS (ACRO)

is the art of slow controlled movements using the flexibility of the back, legs and shoulders. Acro involves difficult feats of balance, agility and coordination. Classes will focus on increasing flexibility, balance, strength, muscle control, discipline and concentration. Emphasis will be placed on developing fundamental acrobatic technique, teaching skills such as handstands, chin stands, elbow stands, cartwheels, back bends, walkovers, balance and contortion tricks, all at each student’s individual level of experience.
