About O'Brien Center of the Arts

The O'Brien Center of the Arts, located in Petaluma, California, was established in 2012 by Martha O'Brien with a profound passion for ballet. Martha's vision was to share the transformative power of ballet, instilling confidence and discipline in the children of Sonoma County. Drawing inspiration from Russian, French, and English ballet techniques, the studio cultivates versatile dancers who are encouraged to pursue their aspirations. Our comprehensive ballet training caters to a wide range of ages and abilities, with classes thoughtfully structured into progressive levels. This includes "Intro to Ballet" for ages 3-4, and Levels 1-6 for students aged 7 and up. Younger students are introduced to the foundational joy of classical ballet through engaging activities, while older students build upon core techniques, focusing on strength and understanding of ballet technique through barre work and fundamental steps. Throughout the academic year, students hone their technical prowess and develop artistic expression. Advanced students have the opportunity to participate in summer intensive programs at renowned ballet institutions, while younger students can engage in studio-based intensives featuring conditioning and master classes with visiting artists. The studio proudly showcases student talent twice annually at Spreckles Performing Arts Center, presenting a holiday performance and a spring show featuring new choreography, giving all students the exciting opportunity to bring their artistic journey to life on stage.
