International Dance Arts Collective (IDAC)

In these two 13 week long classes, students will improve their folk dance technique through the development of Ukrainian/ballet technique. Ballet Technique for Folk Dancers is scheduled for Thursdays from 9:00-10:00 AM for ages 5-10 and Thursdays from 10:00-11:00 AM for ages 7-18. These classes are designed for homeschoolers who are beginning to advanced level dancers and who desire to improve their dance technique, posture, arm styling, foot and ankle articulation, overall strength, and artistic expression. This class is not a performance based class but is strongly encouraged for all dancers/performers ages 10 and up.

If you are a newer dancer ages 7-12 this class is for you. In this semester long class, students will have fun learning foundations of folk dance technique as well as dances from different cultures and/or time periods. All students in this class are expected to perform in the end-of-semester Rocklin Heritage Street Fair on Saturday, May 2nd. Foundations Collective is designed for dancers who have not had much prior dance experience. They will learn foundations of cultural dance with steps like skip-2-3s, grapevine steps, chasse, and spatial awareness. We will also build their ability to remember sequences and perform choreography in a fun and supportive environment. Dancers are expected to be able to actively participate in the class for the duration of 60 min.
