Although originally informed by and borrowing from classical ballet, modern and jazz, it has since come to incorporate elements from many styles of dance. In terms of the focus of its technique, contemporary dance tends to utilize both the strong and controlled legwork of ballet and modern dance's stress on the torso, and also employs contact-release, floor work, fall and recovery, and improvisation characteristic of modern dance. This is an intermediate to advance level only. Must be 8 years and older, must have at least one year of ballet, and must have instructors approval.
MODERN
Modern is explores the qualities of released and off-balance dancing while daring students to find disparate qualities of stillness and explosion. Jazz is a combination of a variety of styles of dance: ballet, African dance, Musical Theater, Modern, and social dances.
