Summer Intensive

I decided to attend SJDT’s Summer Intensive because I wanted to improve my ballet technique and take on new challenges. I especially wanted to work on pointe work because I started pointe later than the other dancers in my level. The summer training helped build my stamina, which is important for pointe work. This led to trying out new combinations and skills I didn’t even know I could do. It really helped me feel more confident about my dancing. I definitely think the summer intensive helped improve my skills and technique on and off pointe. Not only this, but the intensive helped prepare me for the Nutcracker audition. It made me feel more comfortable dancing in center and feeling more confident with myself. When I was cast as Clara I felt so proud and grateful that SJDT trusted me with such a big role. I knew the role would be a big challenge, but I knew the teachers and training would prepare me for the performance. For anyone looking for a new experience or improvement in ballet training. I definitely encourage others to do SJDT’s Summer Intensive. The teachers make the intensive a fun experience while also pushing you to try new skills. The other students there also enhance this experience, by making you feel welcomed and providing a warm, comfortable environment for you to pursue dance in.
