Tiny Stars (3-5)
$105.00

Our tiniest dancers get trained in: ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and tumbling in our Tiny Stars program, to create a solid foundation for joy and versatility in dancing. We alternate between dance styles each class, and introduce our dancers to various music, themes, props, and games to get them excited about movement and learning the art of dance! Our instructors are trained in early childhood education and understand how to meet our little ones where they are each day, to provide a safe & fun place for them to learn how to take class.

Acro/Tumbling

Acro/Tumbling includes technical skills derived from acrobatics and gymnastics. We use acro/tumbling class to increase the muscle strength, flexibility and agility of our dancers’ bodies; and we teach the skills in progression to ensure proper technique and safety. Skills taught may vary from beginning to advanced levels and are determined based on the level of individuals as well as the class as a whole.

Contemporary

Contemporary stems from modern, jazz and ballet dance techniques. The purpose of the style is to explore new and unique movements and phrases that fuse multiple dance styles together. This form often utilizes: modern dance’s emphasis on the torso and use of improvisation, jazz dance’s focus on grounded/rhythmic movements and ballet dance’s attention to controlled and classical lines/placement. The choreography can contain narrative or be abstract in nature, and will challenge dancers to move, think and explore outside of their comfort zone. Improvisation is used to help dancers explore their movement more deeply and personally.

Lyrical

Lyrical is a form of jazz dance that is always evolving; which incorporates the staples of ballet, jazz and modern dance techniques. There is much emphasis on interpreting the lyrics, mood or intent of the music, to depict specific emotions. In lyrical, dancers work with a concept or story to find ways of expressing emotion through their bodies and creating a connection with the audience. Improvisation is used to help dancers explore their movement more deeply and personally.

Tap

Tap is a historical dance form that emphasizes rhythm, syncopation, musicality and coordination of the feet in tap shoes. Combinations can be performed to music with the feet following the beats provided, or without music (a cappella) where the feet generate the musicality on their own. Tap dancing highly trains a dancer’s musicality, coordination, stamina and ambidexterity. It is widely used in many commercial and professional dance arenas, and is extremely beneficial to dancers studying jazz and hip hop.

Hip Hop & Breakdance

Hip Hop is a grounded, street style form of dance usually performed to hip hop music, or music which emphasizes clear rhythms, beats and/or lyrics. Many varieties of hip hop styles can be explored such as: popping, locking, animating, tutting, whacking, house, krumping, and breakdancing ; and body isolations are a key component. Dancers are encouraged to infuse style and personality into their movement as they train, through executing set combinations and exploring freestyle movement.

Jazz

Jazz is a foundational dance style that emphasizes: rhythm, syncopation, grounded movement, isolations, body alignment, core strength, coordination and flexibility. Dancers are encouraged to infuse style and personality into their movement by executing set combinations as well as exploring freestyle/improvisational movement. Jazz incorporates all of the fundamentals to ballet technique; so studying ballet in addition to jazz is crucial to proper training in jazz.

Ballet

Ballet is the foundation of technical dance training, and is the root of most dance styles studied today. Ballet develops strength and consistency through exercises that incorporate a meticulous level of detail to placement (i.e. alignment/core control, turnout of the legs, clarity in the feet, grace of the arms & hands, poise of the head and neck, etc.) In ballet dancers train their bodylines and control from head to toe. A strong foundation in ballet allows a dancer to successfully train in all other dance styles.
