Classes

Pom Dance

Contemporary

In this class we will explore contemporary dance movement founded in Ballet techniques through the use of the breath, contraction & release of the muscles, spiral/twist of the spine, opposition and weight transfer, and so much more.

Musical Theater

Musical Theater is a class that combines dancing and acting. The students dance to songs from musicals while working on developing the character they are portraying. The class focuses on blocking, roll-offs, formations, and dance moves that are commonly used in musicals and on Broadway.

Flexibility and Tricks

Flexibility and Tricks focuses on flexibility, balance, strength, and muscle control. In this class students will learn progressions of tricks from beginning, to intermediate, to advanced. Students will learn tilts, needles, scorpions, headstands, shoulder stands, acrobatics and other dance tricks that incorporate flexibility and strength. If class rules are not followed, or your child does not have the maturity to follow directions they will be asked to not take this class as they could hurt themselves and safety is our first priority.

Tumbling 3/4

This class is for tumbling students who have been evaluated in Tumbling 2. This class works on progressions and acro-dance skills. Teacher approval required.

Tumbling 2

For Ages 10 and up or approval by teacher. This class teaches the basics of tumbling and the correct form needed to be safe and successful. Students will be incorporate it into "dance tricks".

Tumbling 1

For ages 6-9. This class teaches the basics of tumbling and the correct form needed to be safe and successful. Students will be introduced to tumbling and incorporating it into "dance tricks".

Tap 3/4

This class is great for students who are ready to compete with tap. You must have teacher approval to take this class. Students are required to have the following requirements: drawbacks, pick-ups, toe stands, riffs, rhythm rolls, time steps, turning buffalos and wings. Students will learn pullbacks to a toe stand, scissors, one footed wings, one footed toe stands, one footed pullbacks. Students will learn street tapping and hoofing techniques and begin competing with tap.

Tap 2

Ages 10 and up. This class will begin to challenge students with more intricate tapping. Students must be familiar with tap terminology such as time steps, and buffalos. This class will improve students’ ability to make their taps clear as well as increasing the speed of taps within a dance.

Tap 1

For ages 6-9. This class is designed to help students develop rhythm and recognize sounds while developing hand eye coordination. Students will learn the basics of tap, how to portray music with clear tap sounds, and bring energy and fun to the dance.

Hip-Hop 5

This class is for the dancer who is continuing to master popping, tutting, grooves, textures, musicality, individual style, taking corrections, performance, free-styling, and matching others in a group. Students will be taking this class as a professional.

Hip Hop 4

This class starts to challenge students’ ability to learn a new dance in a limited amount of time and show their own personality while showing the textures of hip hop. Students are required to have years of experience to take this class and must have teacher approval. Each class includes warm ups, grooves, free-styling and a dance combo. To take this class, students must know basic tutting, waving, popping, understand textures, dancing on beat, confidence/performance, how to retain choreography and take note corrections from the teacher.

Hip Hop 3

This class is great for students who already have a background in hip hop. Students will learn to be comfortable with grooves, free-styling and adding personality to their dances. Each class will include warm ups, grooves, free-styling and a dance combo.

Hip Hop 2

For ages 10 and up. This class will introduce students to the movement style of Hip Hop. They will begin to learn how to be creative and express themselves through dance. They will also begin to acquire the necessary skills and stamina to learn and perform dance choreography.

Hip Hop 1

For ages 6-9. This class will introduce students to the movement style of Hip Hop. They will begin to learn how to be creative and express themselves through dance. They will also begin to acquire the necessary skills and stamina to learn and perform dance choreography.

Lyrical

Lyrical combines Ballet, Jazz, and Contemporary technique and puts emphasis on the interpretation of music and emotional portrayal.

Jazz 5

This is a pre-professional class and students are required to have many years of experience of ballet and jazz technique and terminology. You must have teacher approval to take this class. Students must have advanced flexibility, consistent 3+ turns, a la seconds, tilts, leg hold turns and switch leaps.

Jazz 4

Jazz 4 aims to help the dancer learn new advanced movement that will help them become a well rounded jazz dancer. Teacher approval required. To take this class, the dancer must have clean technique of everything that is required in the previous level, including a la seconds, triple pirouettes/pensil/coupe/corkscrew turns, flexibility, and strength.

Jazz 3

This class is aimed for students who have years of dance experience and are looking to perfect their technique. You must have teacher approval to take this class. Students are required to have consistent double pirouettes, floats, tilts and leaps.

Jazz 2

This class will begin to challenge students with their jazz terminology and technique. Kids will begin to learn new dance moves, improve their strength and flexibility as well as continuing to develop their own personality in dance. For ages 10 and up.

Jazz 1

For ages 6-9. Jazz combines ballet technique with modern dance skills. In this class students will begin to learn strength and flexibility as well as musicality, hand eye coordination, and establish personality and energy in their performance.

Ballet 5 & Pointe/Pre-Pointe

Ballet 5 is for the semi-professional ballet dancer looking to become professional. Must have teacher approval and have advanced technique at the barre and in center. Almost all terminology must be known and be able to be executed. This class will start to perfect variations of well-known professional ballet's. This class is for the advanced, strong dancer and is an invitation only class. You must be at least 11 to be "en pointe" as going on too early can damage children growth plates.

Ballet 4

This class is aimed for students who have years of experience and looking to perfect their technique. You must have teacher approval to take this class. Students will be tested on their ballet terminology and technique. Must have consistent and correct turns, leaps, and jumps. Each class includes barre exercises, across the floor, and center floor combinations.

Ballet 3

This class will begin to challenge students who are already familiar with ballet technique and terminology. The class will begin to teach students the poise and grace of ballet while learning correct posture, strengthening and conditioning the body. Each class includes barre exercises, across the floor, and center floor combinations. Must have teacher approval.

Ballet 2

For ages 10 and up. Kids will learn the foundation of beginner and intermediate level ballet technique and dance terminology. Each class includes barre exercises, across the floor, and center floor combinations. Ballet is the foundation of all dance styles and will prepare kids for other dance classes.
