Rising Stars

45 minute classes covering 2 dance styles for everyone ages 2 to 6 years old.

TURNS & LEAPS

Turns & Leaps is a class designed for dancers Levels 2-3 and for dancers Level 3-5. This class helps dancers to focus on their core strength, power and technical skills associated with several standard ballet and jazz turns and leaps. A turn is a controlled rotation on one or both feet and requires knowledge of ballet and jazz technique to understand. The portion of the class that focuses on Turns will surely allow dancers to improve and become more confident in the consistency of their balance and number of rotations in their turns. The leaps portion of this class will emphasize flexibility, extension and power and with consistent attendance dancers will definitely see a huge improvement in their leap technique.

TINY STARS - HIP HOP/ACRO

Tiny Star Hip Hop/Acro is a beginner-friendly class for children ages 2-3 that blends basic Hip Hop movement with fun Acro-inspired activities. This class helps little dancers build strength, coordination, flexibility, and confidence while moving to music. Emphasis is placed on exploration, playful movement, and foundational skills that prepare them for future dance classes. Dancers must be able to take class independently without parent assistance.

TINY STARS - BALLET/JAZZ

This class is designed for our youngest dancers, ages 2-3, and introduces them to movement in a fun and engaging way. Tiny Star Ballet/Jazz combines elements of Ballet and Jazz, helping little ones develop coordination, balance, rhythm, and basic musicality. The focus is on creative movement, exploring space, and learning to follow simple directions, making this an ideal first dance experience. Dancers must be able to take class independently without parent assistance.

TAP

In tap dancing, dancers use their feet like drums to create rhythmic patterns and timely beats. Special shoes are worn in tap with metal taps on the feet to create the rhythms and patterns.

SUPER STARS - JAZZ/HIP HOP

This class is a common combination class for young children ages 4-6. This class is considered a “fun” addition to the traditional Ballet/Tap combination class. Many young dancers enjoy this dance style because of the up beat movement and music. This class combines the Jazz and Hip Hop techniques into one class giving young dancers a taste of both styles within the same class. Once a dancer turns 9 years old they are usually enrolled in a full class of each dance style. Dancers must be potty trained Dancers must be able to take class without parent assistance. Parents do not have to stay on site.

SUPER STARS - BALLET/TAP

This is the most common class for a young dancer ages 4-6. This class combines the Ballet and Tap dance styles (see individual descriptions) into one class session. Ballet/Tap class includes basic Ballet & Tap technique that helps young dancers become aware of their timing, rhythm and balance. They will also learn their basic ballet positions and basic terminology in both Ballet & Tap . This class is the introductory class for young dancers to learn “how to take a dance class” and this is the class where most dancers begin their dance training. Dancers must be potty trained Dancers must be able to take class without parent assistance. Parents do not have to stay on site.

POINTE

Pointe is an advanced form of classical ballet in which dancers perform on the tips of their toes using specially designed pointe shoes. This style requires strong ankles, feet, legs, and core, along with a solid foundation in ballet technique. Pointe work emphasizes balance, control, and graceful movement through steps such as relevés, pirouettes, and bourrées en pointe. With consistent practice, dancers develop greater strength, precision, and artistry.

MUSICAL THEATER

Musical Theater dance class blends high-energy Broadway jazz with character work, storytelling, and big, expressive performance. Dancers learn classic combos to hit songs from beloved shows, work on musical theater dance technique, and build confidence with staging, facial expression, and ensemble work.

MODERN

Modern dance is a dance style that rejects many of the strict rules of classical ballet, focusing in stead on expression of inner feelings. Modern dance was created as a rebellion against classical ballet, emphasizing creativity in choreography and performance. This style of dance centers on a dancer’s own interpretation instead of structured steps, as in traditional ballet dancing.

MINI MOVERS (Parent & Me Class)

These interactive classes for Ages 1 & 2 are specially designed to introduce elements of dance and play, fostering a strong connection between child and parent. Watch your little ones light up with delight as they twirl, sway, and groove alongside you in a safe and nurturing environment. Come and be a part of this magical journey of discovery, laughter, and love! Mini Movers must be walking Mini Movers must have 1 parent/chaperone per dancer

JAZZ

Jazz dance often uses bold, dramatic body movements, including body isolations and contractions. Jazz choreography relies heavily on the originality of each instructor and includes many elements of ballet technique.

HIP HOP

Hip Hop is a dance style usually danced to hip-hop music, that evolved from hip-hop culture. Hip-hop traditionally includes breaking, popping, locking as the foundation. However, in current day hip hop, you will find traditional hip hop dancers in addition to hip hop dancers that incorporate additional dance styles such as krumping, clowning, housing and even lyrical! Improvisation and interpretation are essential to hip hop dancing. In the dance studio environment hip hop and Adult hip hop classes will focus on learning short combinations of non technical movement put to popular music.

HEELS

Heels classes combine the elegance of dance with the confidence and power of walking in high heels. These classes emphasize strong, precise movements, and fluid transitions, focusing on balance, posture, and body control. Choreography often incorporates elements of jazz and hip-hop. This class is for intermediate/advanced dancers. Dancers must be Level 3, training in Ballet & Jazz accelerated classes twice a week or audition. Dancers must possess technical strength & ability that warrants safety to be eligible for this class. All participants are at the teacher’s discretion. If the teacher deems the student not yet strong enough they will need to wait.

CONTEMPORARY/LYRICAL

Contemporary/Lyrical is a class where the instructor can choose to teach either contemporary dance OR lyrical dance OR a combination where both styles are incorporated. (See Contemporary and Lyrical descriptions for more information on the individual dance styles)

BREAK DANCING

The term break dancing refers to a style of hip-hop dancing that first appeared in the 1970s. Sometimes know as b-boying, b-girling, or breaking, breakdancing was made popular by African American and Latin America teens who used the activity to provide a more constructive alternative to the dangerous influences of street gangs. Coordination, style, flexibility, and rhythm are the keys to successful breakdancing. Beakdancing is one of the most improvisational dance styles, allowing for each dancer to customize his or her routine with athleticism and imagination. Current break dancing borrows moves from gymnastics and martial arts and upper body strength is often considered a necessity.

BALLET

Ballet is a classical dance form demanding grace, precision, flowing patterns and storytelling through movement. Ballet is a highly technical form of dance with its own vocabulary based on French Terminology. Ballet technique and its French terminology are often used in many other styles of dance.

ACRO

Our Acro classes blend the strength and flexibility of gymnastics with the technique and artistry of dance. Dancers will safely build skills through proper progressions, with a focus on control, alignment, and injury prevention. In Beginning Acro, students may work on foundational skills such as bridges, forward and backward rolls, handstands, cartwheels, and developing core strength and flexibility. In Intermediate/Advanced Acro , dancers progress to skills like back walkovers, front walkovers, chin stands, aerial preps, and more advanced balance and control techniques. Acro is a great way to enhance coordination, confidence, and versatility in any dancer. Dancer must be recommended for intermediate/advanced Acro.
