Tustin Dance Center (TDC), nestled in Tustin, California, is a vibrant hub for dance education, catering to a wide spectrum of ages and skill levels, from toddlers to adults. Our rich curriculum encompasses core dance genres including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Modern, and Ballroom. We also offer specialized classes like Pointe work, Barre, and Zumba, building upon our strong foundational programs. For our youngest attendees, TDC nurtures talent through Kindermusik and Mommy & Me programs, alongside Youth Combination Dance classes. Adults can explore their passion through dedicated Adult Dance and Ballroom classes. Kindermusik Birthday Party
For children ages 1 – 7, the Kindermusik birthday party provides loads of fun in an educational way. All activities will be based around the theme of your choice, and we can suggest many different themes. Activities include a 1-hour Kindermusik lesson complete with instruments, music, movement and props.
Ballerina Birthday Party
For young budding ballerinas, this delightful 2-hour party consists of a 1-hour creative ballet lesson where party guests will learn ballet posture, and technique including tippy-toes, tiaras and twirls. After desserts and presents you provide, party guests will prepare for their exciting end-of-party performance, complete with glitter and shine.
Ballroom
This 2-hour party consists of a 1-hour dance lesson taught by a TDC instructor in your child’s favorite dance genre (see options below), where party guests will learn a proper warm-up, dance technique and an exciting combination to be performed at the end of the party.

Basic Ballet
This class incorporates beginner level ballet, a breakdown of ballet technique and stretching in a 60-minute class. No dance experience is required.
Conditioning & Stretch
Our Conditioning & Stretch classes address these needs and by helping dancers and non-dancers get and stay in shape. This class strengthens of all of the muscles of the body through rigorous exercises, at times using free weights and therabands. Stretch class complements the training of the dance student. In this class, students will increase their understanding of their anatomy and dance alignment while increasing flexibility and strengthening their core, fee, turnout muscles, legs, back, and upper body posture. Students will focus on learning how to stretch correctly by releasing overall tension, releasing muscle tension, and relaxing the mind, while defining specific muscles groups.
Teen Dance
TDC’s teen classes offer teenagers with little to no dance experience the opportunity to learn dance in a context that values the individual and the creative process. Students will receive technical training in a non-competitive environment within three dance styles including ballet, hip-hop and ballroom dance. Our curriculum caters to each student’s strengths and is designed to encourage creative expression and a positive body image.
Contemporary III

Jazz Funk/Urban Motion
Competition Readiness
This class is designed to strengthen technique, stamina, confidence and skill within the dancer. Confidence, style and technique are all attributes that a successful competitive dancer embodies and puts forth on stage. In this class, dancers will be challenged to rise above and to step out of their comfort zone through various improvisations, techniques and movement. This class will prepare the dancer to succeed at competitions physically and mentally. Through improvisation and style building, dancers will gain a newfound sense of confidence on and off the stage.
Jazz Funk
Jazz Funk, also called Street Jazz, borrows a lot of movement from other dance styles. From ballet-modern-hip hop- to lyrical, jazz funk incorporates little bits and pieces of other dance genres and wraps into a funky style that is both fun and expressive! ... Jazz III (Advanced)
The third Jazz class in our program is for dancers who have mastered basic Jazz and Ballet technique, and emphasizes advanced Jazz technique and movement with upbeat music and fast-paced choreography. In this level, students gain confidence in their abilities to produce an expressive and well-rounded dance performance. They become more fluent in presenting different Jazz styles: from the classical Broadway to the contemporary fusion dance forms. The main focus of this level is the communication of emotions and ideas through Jazz dance.
Jazz II-III (Intermediate – Advanced)
This class solidifies the skills learned in Jazz II and prepares the student with the advanced technique needed to enter Jazz III.

Our Jazz curriculum is based on the classical Jazz dance technique, with influences incorporated from modern Jazz and Broadway styles. The Jazz program focuses on flexibility, rhythm, extension, balance, speed, and strong movement, preparing students for a lifetime of dancing. We follow the class format of building strength, balance and extension through isolations, rhythmic exercises, floor stretches, across the floor patterns, and dance combinations. The class format remains the same through the different levels, while the movements continue to increase in complexity as students grow technically and physically. Strong stage presence and performance are also strongly emphasized in the Jazz curriculum.

Tap Dance Classes
Tap training helps to increase leg and core strength, musicality and rhythm, and showmanship. Tap class is a fun and exciting way to explore dance movement and learn basic through advanced steps. It also helps to improve coordination and teamwork skills. Tap dancing is a great compliment to any dancer wishing to perform in musicals or play a musical instrument because of its important concentration on musicality and rhythm. Tap dancing helps students to find their inner performer and challenges the student to open up and become a versatile performer. Tap dancing focuses on learning complex patterns of foot movement, changes in tempo and different methods of weight transfer while dancing in order to produce a certain sound or look that accompanies the type of choreography or steps that the students are working on in class.
Boy’s Ballet
Boy’s ballet is a boy’s only class that combines basic dance techniques with task-based movement. Our goal is to improve coordination, physical condition, muscular strength, flexibility and endurance. Boys will work on weight management, on improving balance and spatial awareness, and on enhancing social skills, self-esteem and general physical confidence. Our mission is to use dance and movement to prepare and inspire young boys for a successful future.
Lyrical
In this class, students will work on technique fundamentals, learn introductory lyrical dance movements, and establish a foundation for dancing this style with control and strength. The class is taught as an “old-style lyrical” class, or as it is called today a “lyrical-ballet” class, that is not very far removed from ballet and requires a good understanding of ballet technique, steps, posture, and positions. The class will emphasize the key fundamental elements needed to build lyrical dance, like pas de chat, arabesque, turns, & expressive quality of movement. Additionally, students will learn how to combine the classical steps with non-traditional elements, such as floor work and lyrical turns, to create new and fluid movement patterns.

Ballet
Each ballet level progressively builds on the strength and technique of the prior ballet level as dancer’s increase their experience and skill, and continue to develop as confident and capable dancers. The ballet barre combinations learned at the early levels require a high level of concentration and good memory; in the center, the dancers will build strength and work on their coordination and musicality. At the upper levels, dancers are expected to reach a very good level of independent work. They are expected to be self-motivated and to demonstrate desire and determination for self-perfection. The technique class moves at a much faster pace than the previous levels.

These hour-long classes combine the fundamentals of different dance forms allowing young dancers to explore and compare different techniques. Students explore different dance sounds, rhythms, shapes, and formations in a fun and exciting way. Classes are fast-paced and fun, providing students with the opportunity to choose a favorite dance form and explore the differences and similarities between Tap, Ballet and Jazz and learn basic tumbling.
Mommy & Me

Yoga Sculpt
Pilates
A mat class that follows a set of exercises using the body?s weight for resistance. The emphasis is learning to control specific muscles during exercises using proper form and technique. Our weekly class provides consistent training and conditioning for people of all ages.
Stretch
Stretch class complements the training of the dance student. In this class, students will increase their understanding of their anatomy and dance alignment while increasing flexibility and strengthening their core, fee, turnout muscles, legs, back, and upper body posture. Booty Ballet
This class is designed to exercise and tone the body with a fusion of ballet, barre, light weights, stretching, and core work in a 60-minue class. Classes are easy to follow and held in a comfortable, non-competitive environment, and no dance experience is required.
Ballroom
A group Ballroom dance class where students learn the fundamental figures of the Tango and Cha Cha dances. Students will also learn a routine that they may use socially. Tango is a partner dance that originated in the 1890s along the Río de la Plata, the natural border between Argentina and Uruguay, and soon spread to the rest of the world. The styles are mostly danced in either open embrace, where lead and follow have space between their bodies, or close embrace, where the lead and follow connect either chest-to-chest or in the upper thigh, hip area. Cha Cha is a vibrant, flamboyant and playful dance. The light and bubbly feel of the Cha Cha gives it a unique sense of fun for dancers throughout the world. The Cha Cha requires small steps and lots of hip motion (Cuban motion), as it is danced in 4/4 time.
Adult Beginning Tap
Beginner levels are a great way for first time teen and adult tappers to explore rhythms and sounds. The Adult Students taking these classes will be able to identify, utilize, and demonstrate Tap terminology. They will be able to combine several Tap techniques to create their own combinations. The main goals of the beginning levels are to become comfortable with this art form and learn about the great American Tap legacy, to strengthen leg muscles, and to develop good sense for rhythm and basic movement coordination. The end of class will include a cool down stretch so your calf muscles do not ache in the morning!
Adult Tap
An adult Tap dance class for basic to advanced adult dancers. For students new to Tap, this class will introduce tappers to explore rhythms and sounds, and teach students to identify, utilize, and demonstrate Tap terminology. Students will strengthen leg muscles, and develop a good sense for rhythm and basic movement coordination, while emphasizing clean Tap sounds. For students with previous Tap experience, this class provides an opportunity to refresh and enrich their Tap knowledge and execute more challenging combinations. Students will explore more rhythms and a larger variety of movements. The technique warm-up will be extended. The main goals of this class are to further improve the sense of rhythm and dance coordination through movements and to experience a great cardiovascular workout in a fun and enjoyable dance environment.
Adult Ballet
An adult Ballet dance class for basic to advanced adult dancers. For students new to Ballet, this class will introduce the basics of classical Ballet technique. Students will learn basic barre, center with simple Adagio, petite and grande Allegro as well as movements across the floor (basic Jumps and Turns using the diagonal of the studio). The dance combinations will be presented in a simple, but still challenging manner. For students with previous Ballet experience, this class provides an opportunity to refresh and enrich their Ballet knowledge and to reach higher levels of confidence, poise and strength in their dancing. The focus will be placed on working with the music in order to achieve fluidity and graceful Ballet lines. Another focus will be placed on increasing the speed and Ballet coordination in all the dance combinations from the curriculum.

Urban Motion - Advanced
Urban Motion
Urban Motion is a Hip-hop class that uses the latest sounds in rap, R&B, and pop music together with movements influenced by some of today’s hottest video choreographers. Students learn popping and locking, breaking, and freestyle movement and have the opportunity to develop their own sense of style. Hip hop is urban, it’s street, it’s diverse and forever changing.
Ballet I
Modern 1
As taught at TDC, the Graham, Horton, and Cunningham techniques will be explored in exercises focusing on different Modern dance ideas, such as contraction, release, flat back, swings, descent/ascent laterals, working in parallel, and initiating movement from different body parts. Improvisation will be introduced and explored giving the student the opportunity to understand the motivation behind the movement and the freedom to create their own unique style. Class then progresses across the floor with movement phrases, turns, single-foot arch springs (jumps from one foot) falls, and rolls. Individual interpretation and performance skills will be emphasized through the technical framework. Modern dance is a great class to take in preparation for summer dance programs, performing arts high schools, college auditions and professional company auditions.
Modern Dance Class
Modern dance is based on natural, expressive, and sequential movements. This dance technique was developed in the early 1900’s along with the modern art explosion. Modern dance expresses individuality and encourages the students to express a broad range of emotions through various qualities of movement. Improvisation, creative movement, and basic technique are all incorporated into our Modern dance class.
Competition Readiness

Pointe I
Builds upon Beginning Pointe skills and exercises, demonstrating good control with no health concerns. Develops ability to dance confidently en pointe in centre of floor, adding pirouettes, petit allegro and grande allegro while showing body control poise and foot strength.
Pointe Dance Classes
Each pointe level progressively builds on the strength and technique of the prior pointe level as dancer’s increase their experience and skill, and continue to develop their overall body awareness and control. Dancers progressively increase their ability and confidence through all pointe movements as they mature and realize the elegance, strength, and grace of the classical ballerina.
Hip-Hop/Jazz
Entry-level Hip-Hop class exploring basic Hip-Hop moves such as popping, locking, waving and basic choreography. This introductory-level Hip Hop class provides a structured method of learning various Hip Hop dance movements in a fun-filled and vibrant class environment, and offers a new set of combinations and routines every time.
Tap-Jazz
An entry-level Tap/Ballet class for ages 6-8 concentrating on exploring the fundamentals of Tap and Ballet. Approximately 30 tap followed by 30 minutes ballet.
Pre-Ballet

A teen/adult Tap dance class for basic to advanced dancers. For students new to Tap, this class will introduce tappers to explore rhythms and sounds, and teach students to identify, utilize, and demonstrate Tap terminology. Students will strengthen leg muscles, and develop a good sense for rhythm and basic movement coordination, while emphasizing clean Tap sounds. For students with previous Tap experience, this class provides an opportunity to refresh and enrich their Tap knowledge and execute more challenging combinations. Students will explore more rhythms and a larger variety of movements. The technique warm-up will be extended. The main goals of this class are to further improve the sense of rhythm and dance coordination through movements and to experience a great cardiovascular workout in a fun and enjoyable dance environment.

In this second level, students continue to develop their tap technique by enriching the vocabulary and improving the quality of the techniques already introduced. The Intermediate technique builds upon rhythms with more complicated, but repetitive sound elements that require students to have a higher level of concentration and self-awareness. Wings, Pullbacks and more intricate tap combinations are introduced.

In this final level students will work on improving the speed and precision of the movements learned in Tap II, and will also learn more complicated and interesting rhythms. The main goals for this level are to gain confidence and freedom of movement and to be able to utilize the knowledge to create tap improvisations. Students will have increased speed and coordination in their footwork and they will be able to learn more complicated steps experimenting with various levels and styles of tap dance. Students will develop a mastery of tap skills such as Time Steps, Double Toe-Stands, basic Wings, Pullbacks and Rifts.
