Triple Threat Classes

Broadway Baby Classes
$45.00

Broadway Baby Classes offer a 40-minute session covering Ballet, Tap & Jazz. This class is designed for young dancers to explore foundational techniques in a fun and engaging environment, building confidence and coordination.

Creating Choreo

This class gives the dancer a more hands on approach to your average dance class. The dancer will learn/review skills in ballet, jazz, and musical theatre. Dance vocabulary and proper technique will be taught as their basis to create dances. The process of creating a piece, as well as all staging aspects will be investigated during class. This includes assisting in choosing costuming, themes, props, etc. Then dancers put their knowledge and skills to work as they create and perform their very own choreography.

Pointe

Classical Ballet technique where dancers support all body weight on the tips of their toes with pointe shoes. Offered to advanced ballet dancers only.

Triple Threat

If you love musicals or are a Triple Threat then this is the class for you. In Triple Threat classes, students learn lessons in singing, dancing, acting and improvisation. The first half of the year students play fun, yet challenging improv games and activities. These games promote creativity, self expression and team work. Lessons in voice are taught such as vocal terms, and warm ups. Students will learn a practice piece from a famous musical. Jazz choreography and vocabulary are taught in fun dance lessons. Students learn the principals of script reading and what it takes to "get into character." These skills assist students who may be involved or interested in auditioning for musical productions.The second half of the year is spent getting prepared for the recital . Students will perform musicals and skits which incorporate all of the aspects of theater that they have learned throughout the year.

Musical Theatre Dance

The style of dance seen in all musicals. Dancers learn jazz steps and technique. Choreography is done to classic showtunes from some of your favorite musicals.

Acrobatics

Acro is defined by intricate tricks being performed with great skill, precision and agility. Students learn stunts and tumbling while working on skills in flexibility and strength.

Lyrical

Lyrical Dance is a style created by merging ballet and jazz. Choreography is performed to music and lyrics that inspire emotions and movements. Students learn proper ballet technique while connecting musicality, dance and mood to a variety of jazz and modern styles.

Contemporary

Contemporary is a dance form that allow the dancer to express themselves using elements of modern, lyrical, and classical ballet. Technique for contemporary is graceful and fluid. Dancers convey an emotion or message with their movements.

Jazz

Jazz Dance became popularized by musical theatre. Technique for jazz is graceful yet strong, utilizing sharp/precise movements. Dancers learn flexibility and balance which is needed for turns and jumps. Jazz dancers bring songs to life by being animated and theatrical.

Hip Hop

Hip Hop is an up-tempo, high energy form of dance. Lessons in isolations, popping and locking, freestyle and breaking are introduced. Dancers enjoy doing popular, and age appropriate "music video" line dances to today's top songs. Workshops in drill and step will be taught in class as well.

Tap

Tap is a dance style that utilizes the sound of shoes as percussion. Dancers learn both styles of tap; Rhythm and Broadway Tap. Lessons focus on terminology and musical elements , such as, rhythm, beat making and tempos. Dancers learn how to put together classic tap steps to build choreography.

Ballet

Ballet is a form of dance characterized by graceful, fluid movements. Proper technique is an important aspect of Ballet. Dancers learn terminology, musicality, and technique in classes. Flexibility and strengthening are a large focus, as well.

The Uni-Crew

The Uni-Crew is the Divaz Dance Academy traveling, competitive dance troupe. This company is for serious, dedicated dancers who want to take their dance education to a higher level. These are repertoire classes mainly based in technique and choreography. To be in the Uni-Crew you need a personal invitation from one of your teachers (which will be decided on by both your teacher and Miss Vicky) or you can try out at one of our in school auditions. Auditions and Competition info coming soon. Dates will be posted on the website in the "news" section, check back in or ask Miss Vicky.

Teen Qweens

Roll out the red carpet for the Teen Qweens! These advanced level classes are based off of skills learned in younger classes. By this level, vocabulary has been mastered. Technique, choreography and strengthening skills are the main focus. Teens work on independent combinations and are more hands on with the choreography process. Lessons in staging, costuming and makeup are touched on as well. Classes begin with a full standing and sitting stretch, and a cardio warm up. Barre work incorporates advanced combinations and flexibility training. Dancers continue "across the floor" in a more challenging way, utilizing multiple steps to make traveling choreography. Each class ends with choreography which will be used in the recital.

Prancing Pegasus

Lights, Camera, Action....the Pegasus are prancing through! These are intermediate level classes and built off of the basics learned in younger classes. Vocabulary is used and understood in every class. Technique is a huge component to this level. Flexibility and strengthening skills become more challenging, while lessons on staging are introduced. Each class begins with a full standing, sitting and barre stretch. Center work is done to practice specific steps and combos. More advanced "across the floor" steps are worked on and each class ends with choreography that will be built into a recital piece.

Mini Muffins

The Mini Muffins at Divaz are ready to take center stage! These are more advanced beginner level classes. Dancers review vocabulary and learn new vocabulary. Technique is introduced and focused on throughout the Dance year. Choreography is more intricate and dancers begin flexibility training. Dance games are played to help build skills in teamwork, improvisation, rhythm/musicality and creating choreography. Each class starts with a standing and sitting floor stretch. Ballet Barres are utilized, traveling "across the floor" work is done, and the class ends with a combination that will be added onto each week to create the recital piece.

Broadway Babies

If your child is a Broadway Baby then that means they love music and movement. These beginner level classes allow young dancers to express their own creative side while learning the basics of dance. Vocabulary is introduced and rhythm, coordination and balance are taught. Dance games are utilized to establish skills in teamwork, space awareness and movement. Classes start with a fun warm up stretch, continue with traveling "across the floor" and end with a combination that reviews the daily lesson.

Adult Classes

Calling all fun and fabulous grown ups! Divaz offers adult classes too! Do you love dancing around your house to great music like Michael Jackson, Madonna and Beyoncé? Have you watched your amazing child dance and think "I wish I could do that." Well, it's your turn now! Divaz is now offering a free monthly adult class on the first Tuesday of every month from 7:30-8:30. (Must have a dancer enrolled, first come first serve.) Can't wait to see ya there!
