Classes

Contemporary

FAB is a classical ballet studio that teaches children ages 3 and up. The ballet program primarily uses the Vaganova and ABT® curriculum. Children are then introduced to other forms of dance including Jazz, Modern, and Contemporary as they progress.

Ballet

Jazz

This class focuses on the beginning elements of jazz technique with a strong focus on coordination, style, and rhythm. Students will learn the basics of body isolations, pirouettes, jumps, and classic jazz footwork along with more modern combinations of movement.

Teen Ballet (ages 12+)

Students should know basic ballet fundamentals and vocabulary at this level. This class will expand upon concepts learned in previous levels. New vocabulary and more challenging concepts are continued to be introduced. Maximum turnout and correct posture are expected from students in this level. Exercises aimed at conditioning for pointe work are introduced. To compliment their training, students are also encouraged to take Jazz at this level. For students entering 4th-6th grade. For students ages 12 and up with previous ballet training. Students are required to take 3 two-hour long classes each week. Classes include 90 minutes of ballet technique followed by either pointe or jazz. Students must have the approval of the director to take pointe.

Intermediate Ballet (ages 9+)

Designed for children ages 9 and up with little to no experience. This class focuses on ballet technique while developing strength, artistry, and confidence in a supportive, non-competitive environment. Students will be introduced to pre-pointe exercises.

Elementary Ballet I/II (ages 6+)

Students are introduced to the traditional ballet class format including barre work and center floor work. Exercises are aimed at conditioning the body for dance and focus on proper alignment, turnout, strength and stretching. Basic ballet vocabulary, concepts, and movements are introduced. All fundamentals learned in the previous level are continued and further developed. For students entering 1st-3rd grade.

Kinderballet (ages 5+)

For kindergarteners, this class begins to introduce the structure of a traditional ballet class while continuing creative movement and game-like exercises. Exercises begin to focus on proper placement, turnout, and stretching. Simple ballet vocabulary and etiquette are introduced in this level.

Nurseryballet (ages 3-4)

For preschoolers, this class combines creative movement and game-like exercises to introduce children to the joy of dance. Creatively introducing basic ballet skills while developing locomotor skills, posture, alignment and musicality. Using their imagination, Children gain confidence and self-expression through dancing by themselves and as a group. Students begin to learn the discipline of ballet.

Jazz, Modern, and Contemporary

Children are then introduced to other forms of dance including Jazz, Modern, and Contemporary as they progress. Class placement is determined by the child’s age and ability.
