Master Class Series

The school’s Master Class Series has brought internationally known teachers to the Dover area. Since August 1995, the Master Class Series has featured Gelsey Kirkland, who formed an unforgettable partnership with Russian defector Mikhail Baryshnikov in the 70s and early 80s, Cynthia Gregory and Cynthia Harvey of American Ballet Theatre, Daniel Baudendistel of the Joffrey Ballet, Petter Jacobsson from London’s Royal Ballet, and now artistic director of The Royal Swedish Ballet, Larissa Shevaldina of the Bolshoi Ballet, Alexander Boitsov of the International Ballet Company, Giuseppe Canale of Bejart Ballet in Paris, Ruben Graciani of the Mark Morris Dance Company, and Freddie Moore of The Alvin Ailey Dance Company.

Apprentice Ballet

Students progress to a more difficult barre, center and diagonal combinations. Musicality, attention to detail, awareness of sudden shifts of directions are emphasized. PrePointe & Pointe Work are introduced, together with Variations, dances from established classical works, necessary to a dancer’s training to meet established standards in the dance world.

GOLD PROGRAM

The GOLD Program offers all the classes from the Extension Program with the addition of a few specialized classes. Acrodance 3 is the most advanced class for the fusion of gymnastics and dance. Broadway-Voice/Theatre and Broadway dance is especially designed for those interested in pursuing a Musical Theatre path. And lastly, Dance Dynamics builds skills to perform such contemporary moves that you will find in movies and shows such as the hit series So You Think You Can Dance?

PLUS PROGRAM

The PLUS Program is an extension of The Regular Program. Students who opt for the PLUS Program are eligible for additional classes, such as Performance, AcroDance, DramaChor, and Advanced Tap, to supplement their current training.

THE REGULAR PROGRAM

The Dance Conservatory offers a Classical Ballet based program. It’s syllabus and methodology incorporates traditional and mainstream styles, including Russian, Balanchine, and Bournonville techniques. Classes of other dance styles including Jazz, Modern, Tap, Theatre Dance, Acrodance, Voice and more, supplement this program.

Explores and incorporates advanced technique, style, and artistry to the students’ training.

Classical Ballet

Combinations grow progressively more difficult at Barre and Center Work. Musicality and Stylistic Awareness are explored further together with different styles of Classical Ballet–Vaganova, Bournonville, Ceccheti and Balanchine. Styles of Modern Dance, Jazz, Theatre Dance are also introduced together with the technical and stylistic challenges of the Classical and Contemporary Dance Repertoire. Students are guided in handling choices of career or related careers in the performing arts.
