Pre-k musical theatre

This class combines imaginative play, singing, acting, and movement to introduce the building blocks of the performing arts. This class will foster creativity and nurture self-esteem. Through songs, musical theatre games, stories and dance, these budding performers will discover new abilities!

PRE-K MUSIC & MOVEMENT

Children who are constantly moving and grooving will absolutely thrive in this class! This class will focus on learning to control children's large motor movements and harness their energy with engaging songs and activities that will help sharpen their focus, following instruction and give them a fun and safe space to learn and grow.

PRE-K HIP HOP

This class will introduce your child to the basics of rhythm and coordination and work on locomotive skill building. This is a great way to help them release their inner soul/street dancer….and have tons of fun dancing to age appropriate music. They will have fun in this high energy class.

PRE-K BALLET & TAP

Dancers will enjoy this interactive ballet and tap combination class that builds on basic ballet and tap technique. The Tap portion of the class will concentrate on rhythm, coordination, timing & building confidence through mastering more difficult patterns and steps. The ballet portion of class includes an introduction of ballet steps as well as positions in center. This exciting class is a fun way to introduce your child to dance!

PRE-K BALLET & CREATIVE MOVEMENT

This class will introduce your child to the basics of ballet: focusing on positions, posture, self-discipline and basic locomotor movements and coordination. The creative movement portion will be about learning new ways of moving through creative games, free dance and exploring space, time, energy and body shapes. This is an excellent class for a child who could benefit from both self-discipline and spontaneity.

Toddler Music & Movement

An interactive 45 minute class that explores different music in a fun, imaginative way! Students will develop their locomotive skills, directional skills and structured free play. This class will be private with only the instructor and students in the classroom.

Tap

Girls Attire: Black leotard with black tights. Can wear solid black leggings over tights. Black tap shoes (if possible, purchase split sole shoes) . Hair should be pulled into a pony tail or bun. Option to wear solid black biker shorts over tights. Boys Attire: Black, fitted, athletic shirt (tank or t-shirt), Black athletic shorts or pants that don't go past the ankle & black, leather, slip-on jazz shoes for all jazz and theater classes (laced or non-laced).

Pre-Pointe

Black leotard, pink tights & pink ballet shoes. Hair should be placed in a bun. O ptional ballet skirt (color of choice).

Pointe

Black leotard, pink tights & pink pointe shoes. Hair should be placed in a bun. O ptional ballet skirt (color of choice).

Jazz

Girls Attire: Black leotard with black tights. Can wear solid black leggings over tights. Skin colored, leather, slip-on jazz shoes (no laces) . Hair should be pulled into a pony tail or bun. Option to wear solid black biker shorts over tights. Boys Attire: Black, fitted, athletic shirt (tank or t-shirt), Black athletic shorts or pants that don't go past the ankle & black, leather, slip-on jazz shoes for all jazz and theater classes (laced or non-laced).

Hip Hop

Boys & Girls Attire : Black shirt OR WFA shirt, black loose athletic pants, Black tennis shoes (can have the color white in the shoe). No midriff. Hair pulled back. If dancers are coming immediately from (or going to) another class, they should be able to put layers on or slip layers off their previous attire. Dancers will not have time to completely change attire.

Contemporary Modern

Girls Attire: Black leotard and black footless or convertible tights, barefoot. Hair pulled to a ponytail. Option to wear black biker shorts over tights. Levels 2-5 will need kneepads for this class. Pre-K & Toddler Classes

Pointe

Utilization of pointe shoes is an exciting accomplishment for dancers! Pointe class teaches dancers how to utilized pointe shoes in their technique. Pointe work requires the dancer to stand with the tips of the toes fully extended while executing movement. Dancers will learn what is necessary both technically and artistically for pointe work, focusing on strength building and articulation of the feet. Any dancer desiring to participate in pointe class will be considered based on age, strength, experience, and alignment.

Pre-Pointe

This Pre-pointe class is designed as preparation for dancers who are desiring to progress to pointe work. Dancers will work on technique and exercises designed for strengthening the legs, ankles, feet and core. In preparation of pointe work, special attention will also be paid to alignment, joint stability, and core strength. We will cover the parts of a pointe shoe, how to properly sew ribbons and elastic, and healthy toenail/foot care. This class is a prerequisite for any pointe classes. Dancers who are over 13 years of age will be assessed for pointe shoe readiness. If the teacher assesses that they are properly prepared for pointe shoes the dancer will continue in the pre-pointe class while using their pointe shoes.

Tap

Discover the rhythmic and percussive art of tap dancing in our dynamic and fun-filled Tap Dance Class! This class offers an exciting way to improve your rhythm, coordination, and musicality.

Jazz

This class contains a fusion of modern, jazz and ballet, this unique style explores a wide range of organic, often angular movements and syncopated rhythms with a base in classical technique. This type of dancing is fun and energetic, includes leaps, turns and floor work. The class progresses through a warm up, center work, across the floor and an ending combination. It’s a fun way to move and express oneself! Jazz 4 & 5 include Leaps & Turns Class - Leaps and Turns works on improving conditioning, coordination and flexibility with a heavy focus on alignment, in order to help improve a dancer's leaps and turns. This class breaks down the building blocks of technique in order to work on more advanced movements. Dancers will gain better knowledge of the mechanics of how to achieve higher quality leaps and turns.

Hip Hop

Classes include a warm-up which concentrates on building stamina, improving strength and flexibility, body conditioning and rhythm isolations. This class will help build a foundation of basic hip-hop movements, across the floor exercises and short combinations to appropriate music. Hip Hop focuses on rhythm, syncopation and stage presence. Derived from a combination of jazz funk and street jazz, this style of dance requires high energy, attention to detail and an understanding of complex rhythms.

Contemporary Modern

Modern Dance (also known as contemporary) appeals to the creative, artistic soul in everyone because of its expressiveness and freedom of individuality. Derived from Ballet Technique, this style has evolved as a self-expressive art form drawing influence from all dance forms past and present, as well as music, theater, and the fine arts. Students will learn body alignment as well as moving in way that allows the body to be more free yet still connected and grounded. This class usually incorporates floor work, center work, across the floor and a movement phrase, along with students' own creative artistic exploration through guided instruction. Students have opportunities to develop their own movement/choreography through mid-year choreography projects and also contribute to their class piece for the end of season Dance Showcase.

Ballet

Classes emphasize the development of classical ballet skills with a focus on proper placement and alignment, gathering an anatomical awareness. Students will learn ballet vocabulary through barre work, center work, and across the floor, while building strength, stamina and flexibility.

Jazz & Hip Hop

This class will have a focus on coordination, isolations, balance, flexibility, stretch and core strength, as well as on rhythm, timing, directional changes, levels and execution. This is a great class to help introduce and develop your future dancer!

Ballet & Tap

They will be instructed in the basics of ballet and tap. They will also be introduced to the ballet barre and become familiar with dance terminology. This is a great class to help introduce and develop your future dancer.

Ballet & Jazz

This class will introduce basic technique of both ballet and jazz. Dancers will get to explore the poise, control and postures of ballet and enjoy fun grooves and steps of jazz. This is a great class to help introduce and develop your future dancer.

Ballet & Creative Movement

Dancers will be introduced to beginning ballet terminology, barre and center work as well as creative movement through exploration of shape, space, time and energy. This is a great class to help introduce and develop your future dancer!

Courses

Summer Intensive (Ballet, Contemporary Modern, and Jazz)

Company members conclude the summer with DaCo’s Summer Intensive, a program designed to foster unity, refine technique in Ballet, Contemporary Modern, and Jazz, as well as strength, conditioning and flexibility. During this time, dancers begin learning company choreography and lay the foundation for the upcoming season. The Intensive also helps integrate new members with returning dancers while ensuring everyone gets a head start on regaining strength. Additionally, dancers are paired in a 'big/lil' mentorship with a fellow company member outside their group and age range, fostering camaraderie and support.

Summer Session Classes (Dance Company)

This summer, we are offering a 4 week Summer Session of classes during the month of June. We will offer classes specific to our Dance Company dancers, to continue their training. The classes will be offered throughout the week like our regular season classes. We're planning to offer the classes only on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the weeks of: June 2nd-5th, June 16th-19th, June 23rd-27th, June 30th-July 3rd. Option to assist other recreational classes.
