About Virgina Dell School of Dance

Virginia Dell School of Dance, a cornerstone of dance education in Jacksonville, Florida, has been fostering a passion for the art form for decades. Under the dedicated leadership of owner Michelle Wynn and Director Megan Wynn Cadwell, the studio offers a comprehensive curriculum for dancers of all ages and skill levels. We cultivate well-rounded performers by blending artistic expression with a positive and engaging classroom experience, skillfully combining talent with creativity and individual personality. Our diverse range of dance styles includes Ballet (from beginner to advanced pointe), Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, and Acrobatics (for ages 7 and up). We also offer combination classes for younger students, introducing them to the fundamentals. Our esteemed instructors, including Megan Wynn Cadwell, Ashley Miller Sullivan, and Alecia Valachovic, bring a wealth of experience. Ashley Miller Sullivan, a former competitive dancer and Ballet Showcase member, offers expertise in ballet, pointe, jazz, lyrical, tap, and acrobatics. Alecia Valachovic, a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant, ensures dancers stay strong and healthy. Specialized programs like the Ballet Showcase (by invitation) highlight student achievements. With a rich history of performances, including notable roles in 'The Nutcracker' and various 'Ballet of' productions, Virginia Dell School of Dance is committed to nurturing talent, encouraging students to discover their potential, and fostering a lifelong love for dance in a supportive and dynamic environment.

Classes

Dance tutoring

$20.00

Dance tutoring is a 30 minute 1 on 1 session aimed to work on specific skills requested by the student or to catch up on a missed class.

MONDAY 3:15pm - 3:45pm

6-7yr Combination

This class is a combination of Ballet and Tap. Students will work on basic techniques. We use song and dance as learning tools so that learning is enjoyable.

MONDAY 4:30pm - 5:30pm

Senior Ballet I (12-14yr)

This class is for students ages 12-14. Heavy emphasis is placed on technique combined with the learning of more advanced steps and terminology. This is a pointe class.

MONDAY 5:30pm - 6:30pm

Senior Tap (12yr+)

This class is for students ages 12 and up. Advanced tap technique is emphasized.

MONDAY 6:30pm - 7:15pm

Senior Ballet II (14yr+)

This class is for students ages 14 and up. This is an advanced pointe class.

MONDAY 7:15pm - 8:15pm

Hip Hop (14yr+)

This advanced hip hop class teaches students to make every beat count and challenges them to dance quickly with precision and power. This class is only available for students who qualify for Senior Jazz II (ages 14+).

MONDAY 8:15pm - 9:00pm

Beginning Jazz (7-8yr)

This class is for students ages 7-8. No experience is required. This class teaches students basic jazz techniques.

THURSDAY 4:15pm - 5:00pm

Acro I (7+yr)

This class is for students ages 7 and up. No experience is required. Students will learn the basic tricks in acro.

THURSDAY 5:00pm - 5:50pm

Intermediate Jazz I (8-10yr)

Students will continue their learning of jazz technique through exercises in the center and across the floor. Classes will incorporate more advanced leaps and turns.

THURSDAY 6:00pm - 6:45pm

Intermediate Jazz II (10-12yr)

Students will progress into more difficult techniques and more advanced progressions, turns, and leaps. They will also begin to incorporate more hip hop moves into their dances.

THURSDAY 6:45pm - 7:30pm

Acro II

Advanced tricks are taught, including front and back handsprings, ariels, and more. This class requires the student to be able to do a front and back walkover.

THURSDAY 7:30pm - 8:30pm

Intermediate Ballet I (8-10yr)

This class is for students ages 8-10. Students will begin working on improving their technique and more challenging steps.

TUESDAY 4:15pm - 5:00pm

Intermediate Tap I (8-10yr)

This class is for students ages 8-10. Students will begin working on improving their technique and learn more challenging steps.

TUESDAY 5:00pm - 5:45pm

Intermediate Ballet II (10-12yr)

This class is for students ages 10-12. This is a class for 1st year pointe students. The requirements for pointe work are 3 years of ballet training and 11 years of age.

TUESDAY 5:45pm - 6:45pm

Intermediate Tap II (10-12yr)

This class is for students ages 10-12. Tap technique is emphasized as well as faster movement of the feet.

TUESDAY 6:45pm - 7:30pm

Adult Tap (18yr+)

This class is for adults who enjoy tap as a form of dance. It is an intermediate level.

TUESDAY 7:30pm - 8:15pm

4-5yr Combination

This class is a combination of Ballet and Tap. Students will learn basic dance steps through song and music with an emphasis on fun!

WEDNESDAY 4:45pm - 5:30pm

Senior Jazz I (12-14yr)

Students will learn more advanced techniques and use them in jazz combinations.

WEDNESDAY 5:30pm - 6:15pm

Ballet Showcase (Invitation only)

This is our most advanced ballet class. This class is by invitation only. Students must take Senior Ballet II also to qualify for this class.

WEDNESDAY 6:15pm - 7:15pm

Lyrical (Invitation only)

WEDNESDAY 7:15pm - 8:00pm

Senior Jazz II (14yr+)

This is our most advanced jazz class. This class is for students ages 14 and up who have previously taken jazz.
