Classes

Variations Level 5-6

A study of classical solo variations from famous ballets. Students are introduced to and gain an appreciation for the technical difficulty of solos as well as an opportunity to express their individual style and artistic ability.

Jazz Dance Level 5-6

Advanced jazz students will be expected to take risks, exploring their own unique styles, as well as master the technique, speed of the movements, musicality, and flexibility. Combinations will become increasingly more complex and intricate.

Jazz Dance Level 3-4

This intermediate level jazz class focuses on learning and improving proper dance techniques like body isolations, performance quality, and developing intricate rhythms and patterns. Students will be exposed to various styles of jazz to help develop a well-rounded dancer.

Contemporary Level 5-6

More advanced and fast paced study of several modern styles with emphasis on Contemporary Movement. Focus is on the details of technique, consistency, and expression along with further mastery of turns, jumps, falls, and floor work.

Modern Dance Level 3-4

Continuing to focus on self-expression and further building of strength, flexibility, and musicality. Floor work, qualitative movement, improvisation, inversions, and beginner partnering skills are covered throughout the year. Graham, Limon, and Bartenieff fundamentals are referenced as students develop floor work, weight shifting, and traveling, as well as practice dynamic, expressive interpretations of movement.

Ballet Level 5-6

The more difficult forms of adagio are introduced with continuation of polishing the technique of turns and more advanced sections of allegro (jumps). Further development of combinations in adagio, allegro, and exercises on pointe. The main focus is on the development of exceptional technique, artistry, and individualism.

Ballet Level 3-4

Emphasis on strengthening stability in various positions and movements, delving into musicality and artistic expression, and further developing pointe work. Importance is placed on developing graceful transitions and suppleness while working to perfect performance quality.

Adult Ballet

Focuses on exercises, techniques and steps of classical ballet with an emphasis on terminology and correct body alignment. Develops an aesthetic awareness of the art of classical ballet. The focus of class will be on proper technique and postural alignment, while inherently strengthening the body and increasing flexibility.

Hip Hop

A high-energy class that infuses the basics of street dancing, breaking, popping, and locking. Classes will encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements. Class includes upper and lower body conditioning as well as a rigorous warm-up to help prepare students for more stamina and body control.

Jazz Dance Level 2

This beginning/intermediate level jazz class focuses on learning and improving proper dance techniques like body isolations, performance quality, and developing intricate rhythms and patterns.

Jazz Dance Level 1

Emphasis is placed on learning proper dance technique and terminology. Students will be exposed to traditional jazz movement and includes a proper warm-up, stretches, isolations, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations.

Modern Dance Level 2

Focuses on self-expression and further building of strength, flexibility, and musicality. Floor work, qualitative movement, and inversions are covered throughout the year. Graham, Limon, and Bartenieff fundamentals are referenced as students develop floor work, weight shifting, and traveling, as well as practice dynamic, expressive interpretations of movement.

Modern Dance Level 1

Emphasis is placed on alignment, balance, strength, and flexibility to enhance proper dance technique. Graham, Limon, and Bartenieff Fundamentals are referenced as students learn floor work, weight shifting, and traveling, as well as practice dynamic, expressive interpretations of movement.

Ballet Level 2

Improving the strength in the lower body, feet, and back, as well as coordination between movements. The study of pirouettes and pointe (as permitted by instructor) begin. Students are expected to maintain consistent alignment throughout a given exercise.

Ballet Level 1

Emphasis on alignment, placement, self-control, and positions. This level marks the beginning of the formal training in the art of ballet.

Pre Ballet

Emphasis on body and rhythm awareness, pattern/pathway reproduction, intro to ballet fundamentals and classroom etiquette.

Jazz Dance Level 4-6

Dancers working in the advanced level will focus on turns, jumps, and floorwork. Continued emphasis on strength and use of transitions. Working on flexibility and control for more advanced combinations and technique.

Modern Level 4, Contemporary Leve 5-6

Dancers will focus on concepts like suspension and release, fall and recovery, the use of momentum and connecting breath with movement. Dancers will explore new ways of moving in combinations, floor work and partnering, along with various methods of improvisation.

Ballet 4-6

Our Classical Ballet Program follows the Vaganova Method Syllabus. Dancers will gain the understanding of proper alignment, pelvis placement, and use of turnout, while building the necessary strength and flexibility in their legs and back. Class work and Pointe work advance in difficulty and tempo along with length and quantity. Artistry is drawn out and developed.

Jazz Dance Level 1-3

Our classes will introduce the fundamentals of jazz dance by taking them through different stretches, warm-up, across the floor exercises progressions, and center combinations with age-appropriate music.

Modern Dance Level 1-3

Dancers will focus on roll downs, spirals, swings, basic floor work, and elemental concepts of space, time, and force. They will also build core strength and flexibility in a fun and encouraging environment.

Level 1-3 Classical Ballet

Our Classical Ballet Program follows the Vaganova Method Syllabus. Dancers will gain the understanding of proper alignment, pelvis placement, and use of turnout, while building the necessary strength and flexibility in their legs and back. Pointe work begins in their last semester of level 2.

Pre-Ballet Classes

The young dancer will begin to explore the basic fundamentals of classical ballet technique, while keeping the class moving and enjoyable. The exercises develop posture and balance, strength, flexibility, and coordination.
