About Dance Theater of Florida

Dance Theater of Florida, located in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, is a renowned dance studio offering a comprehensive and diverse range of dance education for aspiring artists of all ages. Our curriculum is designed to build a strong technical foundation, fostering a love for movement from the earliest stages. For our youngest dancers (ages 2-6), we offer foundational programs like Creative Dance and Pre-Dance, introducing basic movement and dance etiquette. Students aged 5 and up can explore a strong technical base with Level 1 classes in Ballet and Jazz, as well as Ballet and Tap, meeting once a week to develop coordination, musicality, and discipline. Our comprehensive programs extend to students aged 11 and up with a pre-professional track, emphasizing rigorous training in core disciplines including Ballet, Contemporary, and Jazz, with advanced levels featuring pointe work and complex choreography. We offer a wide array of genres for all levels, including Contemporary, Musical Theater, Hip Hop, Tap, Acrobatics, Cirque/Acro, and Flamenco. Our faculty, comprised of experienced professionals, includes Carol Pakri, Daniela Cepero, Elizabeth Bortz, Maureen Gil Garcia, Maria Hernandez Cordoba, Toni Lipscher, Yulia Pivotskaya (former principal dancer), and Michele Zehner (ABT® Certified Teacher). Musical Theater Jazz class

Musical Theater Jazz class for students currently enrolled in Levels 4 through 6.

Level 6 ballet, modern, pilates, contemporary, jazz

Level 6 continues the rigorous pre-professional training, taking a minimum of 3 ballet classes each week plus at least 3 other classes in modern, pilates, contemporary, jazz or more ballet depending upon the student’s goals.

The focus in this level is on more intricate foot work and dance sequencing, including more rigorous ballet vocabulary and pointe work.

Level 4/4x Ballet, contemporary, jazz or modern

Level 4 includes rigorous ballet training technique and an increased amount of pointe work. Level 4 emphasizes core work, quick thinking and attention to detail.

In Level 4/4X students are required to attend ballet classes 3 times each week for 5.5 hours per week.
Level 3/3X Ballet

Level 3’s syllabus and schedule is more rigorous, Ballet classes focus on strengthening feet and ankles to prepare students for pointe. Level 3 ballet is the Pre-Pointe year, when classes meet two times per week for 1 1/2 hours. Depending on their strength and development, Level 3X ballet students may begin pointe during the late fall or early spring semester.

Level 2 continues to develop a strong foundation with more repetitive work for the development of strength. Level 2X includes an introduction to longer combinations of steps and more intricate musicality.

When students enter Level 1, they can expect more intensive training. Level 1 begins to develop a strong foundation for all dance disciplines.
