Progressive Ballet Technique

Progressive Ballet Technique is an innovative body-conditioning and strengthening program that has been designed to enhance students’ technique by focusing on training the muscle memory required in each exercise in all forms of dance. It is a unique training system using ballet-technique-specific exercises to train skill acquisition in a graded and progressive manner from junior to advanced levels. PBT helps teachers worldwide prepare their students to receive the strength they need to achieve their personal best.

Competition Team

The competition team includes both ballet solo/group competitions and dance team competitions for the 21-22 season. Team rehearsals are required and you must also take a ballet class(es) and a musical theater class. Planned ballet competitions for 22-23 Season: -YAGP: YAGP Dates/locations to be announced later -UBC: March 17-19th - Regionals (Jacksonville) -Shake the Ground: April 21-23rd - Regionals (Jacksonville) -UBC Finals: May 25-29th - Finals (Jacksonville) to be determined by placement at the regional competition *If interested please see the director. The deadline to audition is Nov. 1st.

Ballroom

Ballroom dance is an elegant art form that has been enjoyed for centuries. From graceful movements of the waltz to the passion of the tango, ballroom dance offers a wide range of styles for dancers of all levels. Whether you're a novice or an experienced dancer ballroom dance is a wonderful way to express yourself and share the love of dance.

Musical Theatre

Theatrical dance expresses a story and emotion such as humor, love, or anger. It's a combination of ballet, tap, and jazz that is typically Broadway-style with Broadway music. This class trains more than just the basic dance techniques by giving them a foundation in showmanship and stage choreography.

Tumbling (Acro)

This class is designed to improve a dancer's range of motion, enhance muscle flexibility and increase their level of core muscle strength. No matter what your preferred style of dance is, tumbling can add depth, dimension, height transitions, and demonstrate a dancer’s sense of control in a routine. In many lyrical and contemporary routines, back walkovers, aerial cartwheels, and front aerials are used for creative movement and the overall presentation of choreography.

Contemporary

A mixture of “modern” or current movement and lyrical dance, which requires an understanding of ballet and jazz technique. Movement is set to music that promotes storytelling through lyrics and emotional response. Contemporary dance uses music to evoke emotion and movement.

Tap

Tap dance is a form of dance characterized by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion. Students are taught rhythms, timing, and coordination done to various types of music. The class emphasis is on developing proper tap techniques and producing clear tap sounds.

Repertoire

Repertoire classes focus instruction on the solos or pas de duex segments of classical ballets. Students will learn more than just the steps to perform but the meaning behind the story, the emotions you are trying to evoke with the dance to express the characters and the history behind where these ballet stories and dances came from.

Pointe classes are a challenging form of strength and technique. Whether you're beginner or an experienced, our classes are designed help you improve your and achieve your goals. us today and take dance journey to the level!

Jazz

An intense focus on jazz technique that consists of parallel positioning, isolations, progressions, and staccato movement. This class develops strength, flexibility, and correct body placement knowledge while improving performance quality and developing complex rhythms and patterns. Students will be exposed to various styles of jazz such as Broadway, Street, Commercial and Contemporary to help develop a well-rounded dancer. Jazz classes are fun and energetic and they include such elements as kicks, leaps, turns, and splits.

Pre-Ballet

Creative Movement, the very beginning of dance education, teaches young children to better understand themselves and the world around them; inspiring the inner self in conjunction with the physical body. Through imaginative lessons, children will be inspired to move in ways that build balance, rhythm, and reflexes, as well as creativity and art and music appreciation. A cultural experience for the young explored through movement. Students must be potty-trained and able to dress/undress (teacher cannot leave others to help in the restroom).

Ballet

St. Augustine Ballet is proud to include the AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE® National Training Curriculum, a breakthrough 8 level program that combines high-quality artistic training with the basics of dancer health and child development. The ABT® National Training Curriculum consists of a comprehensive set of age-appropriate, outcome-based guidelines to provide the highest quality ballet training to dance students of all ages and skill levels. All ballet levels are determined by age first, skill level placements are determined by the director.

St. Augustine Ballet Conservatory Program

This program offers pre-professional training for students who are seeking high-level training for a future as professional dancers. The program begins at 1:30 PM with the option of either 3 days or 5 days a week and focuses on classical ballet technique, variations, conditioning, character and contemporary. Dancers will be given not only top-of-the-line training, but also the opportunity to have regular master classes with guest teachers, and the opportunity to compete in national dance competitions!
