ACTING / DRAMA

Students will learn the principles of acting technique, script analysis, developing a character, cold reading, improvisation, movement, monologues, scene study with partnered scenes, group work, and on-camera work and playback. They will learn what is expected of them before they walk into an audition, what to do at callbacks and learn "the business" of Show Business.

STRETCH, LEAPS & TURNS

The technique class is for dancers who want to push themselves further in their dance training. The class is devoted to helping dancers improve their technical elements of dance in ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, tap, and hip-hop. This class is invaluable for gaining clean technique and more precision. Stretch and strengthening is also combined to improve dancers’ power, grace and flexibility. Students will work on turns, jumps, leaps, splits, kicks and tricks.

RHYTHM STORM DANCE TEAM

Rhythm Storm Dance Team offer students the opportunity to train on a higher level, enjoy additional performance experience, and be a part of a dedicated group of dancers. Team members perform throughout the year at fun events. In addition to weekly dance technique classes, they must also attend weekly rehearsals. Dancers learn discipline, teamwork, and showmanship while representing Rhythm Elements Dance Studio in the Metro Atlanta area.

SALSA

Salsa is fun, dynamic, energetic and the most popular of all the Latin dances amongst kids and adults. It is easy to learn and suitable for all dancing abilities. Students are taught the basics steps and can progress to intricate turn patterns and footwork.

AFRO-JAZZ

Afro-Jazz is energetic and infuses African, Caribbean, Afro-Brazilian and Jazz into an upbeat dance style. Students learn African and Jazz techniques that inspire the body and spirit. Dancers will immerse themselves in drum-based movement.

STREET JAZZ

A fusion of Jazz dance technique with the attitude of the street influences of Hip-Hop dance. Street Jazz can be seen in the Pop music industry, videos and TV commercials. Street Jazz is funky, energetic and full of swag.

LYRICAL

Lyrical is based in ballet and modern dance with the more free-form structure of jazz dance, and is generally performed to slower music. Lyrical is often used to express emotion, or tell a story by interpreting the music and words of a song. This class develops strength, flexibility, and balance. Students MUST have a strong ballet base and be enrolled in a weekly ballet class. This is an excellent class for students who want to explore different ways to express their feelings and emotions through their dance.

TAP

Tap is a popular style of American theatrical dance distinguished by percussive footwork. The focus is on fundamental tap movements, vocabulary, rhythm, timing, musicality, coordination, balance and control. Classes will include across the floor exercises that teach t ap progressions, leading to complex patterns and exciting dance combinations.

PRE-JAZZ

Pre-Jazz is an introduction to Jazz dance and learning basic dance terms. It is a fun, energetic class where students learn how to correctly and safely develop their coordination, rhythm, balance, flexibility, and self-expression while inspiring the love of dance.

JAZZ

An upbeat, high energy class that helps students develop rhythm and style. Emphasis is on basic skills, Classic jazz technique and contemporary dance forms. Students are introduced to progressions, turns, rhythmic combinations using various music and Jazz dance technique.

POINTE

Students must have 3 or more years of ballet, and is currently taking a minimum of two ballet technique classes per week. Pointe readiness is determined by the instructor, and working with a physiotherapist.

PRE-POINTE

Students must be recommended by an instructor to study pre-pointe and show promise in technique and strength in legs, ankles and muscles. This class emphasizes strengthening technique, balance and knowledge of pointe work. Students will incorporate ballet technique training during pre-pointe. Must complete a full year of training before receiving first pair of pointe shoes, and must be currently enrolled in ballet classes.

CONTEMPORARY BALLET

Contemporary ballet has roots in the classical ballet technique and vocabulary. It incorporates elements of classical ballet with modern dance to create movements that are more expressive, and allows a greater range of movement of the upper body. Contemporary ballet is not constrained to the rigorously defined body lines a nd forms found in traditional, classical ballet. Rather it involves more floorwork, contractions, fall and recovery, improvisation characteristics of modern dance and turning in of the legs. George Balanchine is often renowned as the first innovator of contemporary ballet. George Balanchine incorporated flexed hands and occasionally flexed feet into his dance works, which is now known as neoclassical ballet. The neoclassical ballet style that he created lies on the border between classical ballet and today’s contemporary ballet. Dancers will enjoy freedom of expression through movement.

CLASSICAL BALLET

Considered the true foundation for most dance disciplines, ballet is essential to a dancer’s overall progress. Class include barre work to both slow and fast exercises, followed by center and across the floor work. Emphasis will be placed on the discipline of classical ballet technique, correct body placement, posture, arm and head movements, musicality, and mastering the steps. Ballet builds strength, flexibility and balance that can be applied in other dance classes. Class time will periodically be devoted to the written as well as spoken French ballet terminology.

PRE-BALLET

The Pre-Ballet Class is a child's first introduction to how fun dance can be. Ballet enhances a child’s posture, grace, poise, coordination, balance, flexibility, and musicality. Pre-Ballet classes are open to all children ages 3 – 5 and 6-7. A perfect way to begin to foster the love of dance in your little one.
