About Gwinnett School of Dance

Gwinnett School of Dance, located in Grayson, Georgia, is a vibrant studio dedicated to making dance accessible, joyful, and empowering for individuals of all ages and skill levels. We offer a comprehensive range of classes, nurturing a lifelong love of dance and building confidence, creativity, and a strong technical foundation. Our diverse curriculum includes foundational styles like Ballet, Jazz, and Tap, alongside popular contemporary genres such as Hip Hop, Lyrical, Modern, and Contemporary dance. Aspiring performers can also explore the dynamic world of Musical Theater, with programs designed to cater to beginners and advanced dancers alike. Our passionate team of instructors brings a wealth of training and performance experience. The faculty includes Director and Ballet Instructor Keri Beth Dlearo, with 50 years of dance experience and 30 years of teaching; Instructor and Choreographer Donna O’Rourke Frick, with over 35 years of teaching experience; Ballet Instructor Ella Mott, who brings pre-professional training; Hip Hop Instructor Q Harper, with extensive professional performance and competition experience; and Ballet Instructor Brooke Thompson, a Point Park University graduate. Gwinnett School of Dance fosters a supportive and fun environment, emphasizing personalized attention to ensure students build technical skill and a deep appreciation for the art of dance. We are proud to offer exciting performance opportunities through our annual Winter Showcase and Spring Recital, along with an engaging eight-week summer session.

Classes

Combo Classes

Our combo classes introduce dancers to more than one style — like ballet and tap — in a single class. These classes are a fun way for younger students to explore different techniques, build confidence, and discover the styles they enjoy most.

Musical Theatre

Musical theatre combines dance, acting, and storytelling to bring the stage to life. In these classes, dancers learn expressive choreography inspired by Broadway and beyond while building confidence, character, and stage presence. It’s the perfect style for performers who love to shine in the spotlight.

Hip Hop

Hip hop is all about rhythm, creativity, and self-expression. Dancers learn foundational moves, musicality, and choreography inspired by today’s music and culture. Our classes build confidence, coordination, and style in a high-energy, supportive environment.

Tap

Tap dance turns your feet into instruments, combining rhythm, dynamics, and sound to create music through movement. Classes build strong fundamentals with warm-ups, across-the-floor progressions, and center floor work that help dancers develop coordination, timing, and style.

Jazz

Jazz dance is full of energy and style, blending sharp technique with expressive performance. Our jazz classes build strength, flexibility, and stage presence through upbeat combinations and dynamic choreography that keep dancers moving with confidence and flair.

Lyrical & Contemporary

Blending the grace of ballet with the freedom of jazz and modern, lyrical and contemporary dance allow students to express emotion through movement. These classes focus on musicality, storytelling, and artistry, giving dancers the chance to connect deeply with both the music and the audience.

Ballet

From toddlers taking their first plié to advanced dancers refining their artistry, our ballet program builds a strong foundation in technique, discipline, and expression. Ballet is the cornerstone of all dance styles, and our classes inspire confidence, strength, and a love for movement.

Ballet/Tap

A fun combo class for young ballet and tap enthusiasts. Students learn both styles and alternate performances each season, dancing ballet in one show and tap in the other.

Ballet 2

Pointe 1

Dancers transferring from other schools may be evaluated for placement.

Ballet 6

Ballet 6 is GSD’s most advanced ballet level for dancers ages 13 and up. Meeting twice weekly for 90 minutes, this class challenges students with advanced barre work, turns, adagio, and allegro. Eligible dancers may also be recommended for pointe classes at the instructor’s discretion.
