Dance for Joi Dance Company, located in Stone Mountain, Georgia, has been a vibrant part of the East Atlanta arts community since opening in Summer 2015. Founded by Joi Riley, who brings over 15 years of personal dance experience and 10 years of teaching, the studio is dedicated to nurturing the artistic potential of dancers of all ages, from 18 months to 17 years old. Dance for Joi emphasizes developing each dancer's unique talents in a positive, nurturing, and safe environment, fostering discipline, responsibility, and leadership. The studio offers a comprehensive dance education with a wide array of weekly classes for recreational dancers, culminating in a professional year-end show, and a competitive dance team program for those seeking intensive training and performance opportunities. This program fosters growth, work ethic, dedication, and drive. Popular styles offered include Ballet, Hip Hop, Jazz, Tap, Acro, Contemporary, and Lyrical, with Musical Theater integrated into Jazz choreography. Our esteemed instructors include: James MahKween (BFA Musical Theatre, expertise in Modern and Jazz); Ms. Jazzmin Reynolds (experience in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, and acrobatics, including competition teams); Dawn C. Humphrey-Shaw IV (master dance educator with over five decades of experience, specializing in Ballet rooted in Russian and Cecchetti techniques, alongside Jazz, Hip-Hop, and Contemporary); and Latauria Dotson (proficient in Ballet, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Modern, and Contemporary, also teaching youth hip hop and adult heels). Special programs include the Mini Team (ages 4-7), Petite Team (ages 7-9), Junior (ages 10-12), Teen (ages 13-17) Teams, and an elite program for dancers aged 8-18 offering industry training. Dance for Joi also hosts a Performing Arts Summer Camp. Auditions are key for team placement.
