About Lake City Highland Dance

Lake City Highland Dance, located in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, stands as the premier destination for Scottish Highland Dance in the Inland Northwest. Established in 2015 and recently relocated to a new facility in Fall 2024, the studio offers a vibrant and structured dance experience for students of all ages, from four years old and up. Led by Director and Head Instructor Victoria Hawkins, a seasoned dancer with over seventeen years of experience and championship-level success, and founder Kasey Hawkins-Peavy, who returns as a guest instructor, the studio boasts a rich lineage of expertise. Both instructors are certified by the British Association of Teacher's of Dancing and registered with ScotDance USA, ensuring high-quality instruction. Programs range from "Wee Scots" (ages 4-6) to recreational classes ("Rec 1" and "Rec 2" for ages 6-12) and a dedicated competitive program with levels "Comp A," "Comp B," and "Comp C," guiding dancers from beginner through premier levels. With 80% of students actively competing, the studio emphasizes performance through an annual Spring Showcase, various events, and medal testing. Students learn foundational competitive dances such as the Highland Fling, Sword Dance, Seann Triubhas, and Reel, alongside National and Character dances, fostering technique, control, and stamina. Beyond Highland Dance, opportunities in Ballet, Tap, Hip Hop, Jazz, Contemporary, Ballroom, and Zumba are available. Intensive training is also offered through summer programs like the "Summer Fling Dance Camp" and "LCHD Dance Camp."
