About Motion Dance Academy
Motion Dance Academy, located in Idaho Falls, Idaho, has been igniting a passion for dance since its founding in 2018 by Kacie Christensen. This vibrant studio offers a comprehensive dance education designed to foster technique, creativity, and confidence in dancers of all ages and skill levels. Summer Technique
Our Summer Technique classes focus on ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance styles. While these are geared towards our Company Teams, we welcome other dancers to join. These are leveled classes and have prerequisites. Our Level 1 class is best suited for littles who have dance and technique experience and are able to listen and follow directions for an hour. All other levels will require evaluation for placement.
Technique: Essentials
Technique Essentials is a focused class designed to help dancers develop the strength, flexibility, and control needed to execute dance moves with precision and power. In this class, students will build a solid foundation in the essential techniques required for skills, powerful jumps and leaps. Through targeted exercises, stretching routines, and strength-building drills, dancers will work to improve their overall body awareness and muscle control, ensuring they have the proper technique to perform.
Strength & Conditioning
Strength and Conditioning is for dancers looking to improve their overall strength, flexibility, and endurance.. The class emphasizes building power, stability, and control. Ideal for dancers of all levels, the class is scalable to meet individual fitness goals and needs.
Musical Theater
This class is to help develop the skills needed to perform in musical theater. Students will learn jazz based technique along with basic tap and other dance styles, vocabulary, stage directions and how to connect to an audience and tell a story through dance. Students will learn Musical Theater Dance: Build on foundational musical theater dance steps, including simple jazz and tap, and the ability to learn and perform a combo quickly Vocabulary and readiness: understand theater terminology, recognize dance vocab relevant to choreo, stage directions Acting Through Dance: Musical theater is all about storytelling, and this class emphasizes the importance of acting through your movements. Learn how to infuse personality and emotion into your dance steps, transforming basic choreography into a performance that will captivate casting directors.
Flexibility
Dance Focus: Flexibility is a class designed to help dancers improve their overall flexibility, mobility, and strength. In this class, students will focus on increasing their flexibility while building the strength necessary to safely deepen their stretches and improve range of motion. Dancers will learn: Stretching Techniques: Learn safe and effective stretching routines that increase flexibility over time while promoting injury prevention. The class will also focus on proper warm-up and cool-down techniques. Strength & Control: Build strength in the muscles needed to maintain stability while deepening stretches, ensuring that flexibility gains are supported by proper muscle strength and control.

Levels 7 & 8 Tumbling & Acro
Our Tumbling & Acro program combines traditional tumbling skills with dance technique to enhance strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination. Classes are leveled to ensure appropriate skill development at every stage. Levels 7 & 8 are advanced acro classes designed for dancers with strong technical foundations and a high level of strength, control, and flexibility. Students will be introduced to advanced acrobatic elements including front and side aerials, back handsprings, Valdez, crocodiles and more.
Levels 5 & 6 Tumbling & Acro
Our Tumbling & Acro program combines traditional tumbling skills with dance technique to enhance strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination. Classes are leveled to ensure appropriate skill development at every stage. Levels 5 & 6 are designed for intermediate to advanced dancers who have developed strong foundational skills. These levels focus on control, flexibility, and precision while building the strength and confidence. Students will work toward mastering bridge kick overs, front limbers, front walk overs, back walkovers, and Arabians. Dancers will also continue integrating acrobatic skills into dance combinations to develop versatility and performance quality.
Levels 3 & 4 Tumbling & Acro
Our Tumbling & Acro program combines traditional tumbling skills with dance technique to enhance strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination. Classes are leveled to ensure appropriate skill development at every stage. Levels 3 & 4 are designed for dancers who have a solid foundation in basic acro skills and are ready to build strength, control, and fluidity. These levels expand on the skills introduced in Level 2. Students will work on intermediate tumbling skills such as one-handed cartwheels, cartwheels from knees, handstand forward rolls, and dive rolls. Core strength, shoulder stability, and coordination are emphasized to safely support these new movements.
Level 2 Tumbling & Acro
Our Tumbling & Acro program combines traditional tumbling skills with dance technique to enhance strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination. Classes are leveled to ensure appropriate skill development at every stage. Level 2 is designed for students who have mastered the foundational body positions and shapes introduced in Level 1. This level introduces core tumbling skills such as forward rolls, backward rolls, cartwheels, and handstands. Dancers will focus on proper technique, body alignment, and control while building the strength needed for more advanced skills.
Level 1 Tumbling & Acro
Our Tumbling & Acro program combines traditional tumbling skills with dance technique to enhance strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination. Classes are leveled to ensure appropriate skill development at every stage. Level 1 serves as an introductory class, focusing on foundational body positions, shapes, and movement patterns that prepare dancers for more advanced skills. No experience is required to join Level 1.
Intermediate Tap
This class is designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. Students will learn a variety of tap styles. Class emphasizes developing proper tap technique, producing clear tap sounds, and having fun! This class builds upon the fundamentals learned in Level 1 while introducing more advanced jazz steps, combinations, and performance techniques. Dancers will focus on improving their strength, flexibility while learning to express themselves with confidence and style.
Level 1 Jazz
Jazz borrows from modern and ballet technique. This class focuses on building a strong base of core movements, rhythm, and style, while developing flexibility, strength, and coordination. What dancers will learn: Jazz Basics Flexibility & Strength: Improve flexibility and strength through basic stretches and exercises, helping to enhance leg extension, turnout, and overall mobility, essential for more advanced jazz movements. Footwork Turns: Begin learning the proper technique for executing basic turns like pivot turns and chainé turns, with emphasis on spotting to help with balance and control.

Hip-Hop Krew II, is our intermediate class designed for dancers ages 10-18 who have a solid foundation in basic hip-hop techniques. You'll explore new styles, strengthen your performance quality, and develop your personal hip-hop style while learning footwork, isolations, and choreography.

This class is designed for dancers ages 8 to 12 who are ready to build a strong foundation in hip hop! In this class, dancers will explore the essential elements of hip-hop all while learning how to move to the beat with style and confidence. Contemporary: early intermediate is for dancers ages 10-18. This class builds on fundamental skills of contemporary dance while encouraging expression and creativity. What dancers will learn: Creative Expression & Storytelling: Develop your unique voice as a dancer by connecting your movements to storytelling. 5-7 Combo
This class offers ballet basics, jazz, and tap techniques! This class provides a well-rounded foundation in all three styles, helping children develop a love for movement, rhythm, and artistic expression. What your dancer will learn: Ballet Fundamentals: Dancers will learn basic ballet positions such as first, second, and fifth positions. Introduction to balance and turns, including basic pirouettes and chaine turns. This 45-minute class is the perfect introduction to both ballet and tap dance for young dancers ages 3-4. Our Mini Movers class is an exciting and interactive program designed to help young children, ages 2.5-5, develop essential motor skills, explore movement, and engage in the world of dance and tumbling through discovery learning. We Will learn: Gross Motor Skill Development: Students will practice running, jumping, hopping, skipping, balancing, and more. Basic Tumbling Skills: Using the Acrobatic Arts Primary program, students will be introduced to strength and basic tumbling skills.
