Peoria Ballet Company, located in Peoria, Illinois, has been a cornerstone of Central Illinois's dance community for 60 years, dedicated to enriching lives through exceptional dance training and inspiring performances. Nurturing dancers of all ages, from three years old to adults, the studio offers a comprehensive curriculum designed for both aspiring pre-professionals and recreational dancers. Artistic Director Ian Thatcher, with extensive training from Canada's National Ballet School and experience with renowned companies, alongside Associate Artistic Director Molly Daly, a certified ABT instructor, lead a highly qualified faculty. Instructors include Elizabeth Blackaby (Modern), Don Coven and Sophie Larson (Tap), Leah Reed (Hip Hop), Allexe Slevin (Jazz and Ballet), Julia Rzeszutko (Creative Movement and Pre-Ballet), and Audrey Trenkle (Pre-Ballet). Peoria Ballet Company provides professional instruction across a diverse range of styles, including Ballet (with emphasis on pointe work, partnering, repertoire, and variations), Contemporary, Flamenco, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, Tap, and Hip Hop. Dedicated adult ballet classes are also a popular offering. The Academy boasts over 170 students and features four modern studios, fostering a nurturing environment for skill development and passion for movement. Beyond training, the company is celebrated for its annual productions, including the beloved holiday staple "The Nutcracker" – often featuring live orchestral music and professional guest artists – and a full-length spring theater production. Students benefit from training that prepares them for summer intensifies and year-round programs at leading institutions, with many going on to join professional companies. The company actively collaborates with other organizations and offers educational and outreach programs to extend the reach of dance throughout the community.
