Hip-Hop

An introduction to Hip-Hop. High energy Jazz dance. *Must be enrolled in a Jazz class.

Contemporary

A more advanced type of lyrical dance that involves more floor work, modern movements, and more elements of storytelling skills.

Lyrical

A very popular style of dance, this beautiful contemporary dance form incorporates Jazz and Ballet techniques. *Must be enrolled in pre-pointe.

Pointe

For advanced pre-pointe students, upon teacher recommendation, in addition to regular pre-pointe classes. This class requires a firm understanding of basic ballet techniques, and a large amount of dedication and time to ensure safety and proper technique is exercised.

Pre-Pointe

Classical ballet classes are offered with concentration on barre and centre work.

Jazz

Dance movements taught to a variety of modern music.

Tap

Combining rhythm, timing, coordination, and style.

Tap and Jazz Combination Class

Tap class will combine rhythm, timing, coordination and style. Jazz movements are taught to a variety of modern day music. Dancers will begin to lean more about stage performance at this level.

Tap

Our tap class will focus on rhythm and timing along with the basic tap steps. class emphasizes appropriate teaching techniques for children of all ages while stimulating creativity and imagination. (Note: by enrolling in both Ballet/Creative Movement and Tap, the student will maximize the benefits of their dance education)

Ballet and Creative Movement

This class will teach basic ballet for the appropriate age level along with creative expression and the use of imagination. This class emphasizes appropriate teaching techniques for children of all ages while stimulating creativity and imagination. (Note: by enrolling in both Ballet/Creative Movement and Tap or Tap/Jazz, the student will maximize the benefits of thier dance education.)

Intermediate Level Dance

Courtney’s passion for dance began at the age of 2. She grew up dancing recreationally, competitively and was a Q-City Pommer on the state champion teams 2014 & 2015. One of her favorite experiences aside from winning state was dancing jn a parade in Disney World and learning choreography from the Disney characters.

Teen Level Dance

Sarah Hagan has been dancing and tumbling since the age of three. She has been a student at a variety of dance studios throughout the central Illinois region including Cay’s Academy of Tumbling, Washington Dance Academy and Peoria Ballet. She ended her dance career at Just Dance (home of Water Street Dance Company).

Senior Troupe Dance

Lily Began her dance journey at the age of 3 and has been with Vancil for 18 years! She has 8 years of competitive dance experience and has been to over 20 competitions through her dance career. Her favorite memory of dancing would be performing in the Bay City Troupe production of The Nightmare Before Christmas, playing Jack Skellington.

Intermediate Level Dance

Lily Began her dance journey at the age of 3 and has been with Vancil for 18 years! She has 8 years of competitive dance experience and has been to over 20 competitions through her dance career. Her favorite memory of dancing would be performing in the Bay City Troupe production of The Nightmare Before Christmas, playing Jack Skellington.

Beginner Level Dance

Taylor's dance career began when she was four years old. She danced at Vancil for 14 years and was on the Quincy University dance team for one season. Taylor competed and took a variety of classes throughout her time as a dance student, her favorite styles being jazz and lyrical. She loves the family atmosphere and everyone is so including of each other.

8-10 year old classes

Haley Ruths began her dance career in 1992 at Vancil Performing Arts Center when she was 2 years old. Throughout the years, she participated in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, pom pon, and was a member of the first Production Team. She was a member of the Bay City Dance Troupe and participated in many Christmas Tours around local nursing homes and community events.

Petite Troupe

Andrea Heiden began her dance career at Vancil Performing Arts Center in 2003 at the age of 5. She was a member of the Bay City dance troupe in which she was the lead role in many of the studio's productions, her favorite memory was playing Sandy in Grease. Andrea was a competitive dancer for VPAC, starting at the age of 9, and competed through her senior year of high school.

Senior Level Dance

Abby Huber began her dance career at Vancil Performing Arts Center in 2002 at the age of 3. She enjoyed taking a large variety of classes while enrolled at the studio. She has studied tap, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, lyrical, pointe, and technique. She was a member of troupe for 12 years where she played several character roles. She began competing at the age of 13 and continued competing through her freshman year of college.

Beginner & Intermediate Level Dance

Crystal Barry has been a teacher at Vancil Performing Arts Center since 2007, and as a child took classes at VPAC for nine years. She is very excited to share her love of dance with her students! Crystal has continued her dance education by attending workshops and conferences in Chicago, St. Louis, and New York City. Communication with parents is very important to Crystal, so she invites all parents to contact her with any questions or concerns. She is looking forward to another exciting and rewarding dance season!

Hip Hop (Master Level)

Kelle Beswick is currently the teacher of the pointe class and all the master level classes, including ballet, lyrical, tap, jazz, and hip hop. She enjoys sharing her passion for dance with all of her students and seeing her routines come to life on stage each season!!!
