Classes

Modern

Modern is a style of dance that started as a rebellion of ballet dance and its structure. This style has been called “organic” in its movement and is used to convey new awareness of inner and outer expressions. Dancers study body movement through the techniques such as contract and release, fall and recovery, spiral, through floor work and more.

Intro to Hip-hop

An Intro to Hip-hop class is available for students 8 & 9.

Hip-hop

Hip-hop movements are percussive and strong. Hip-hop classes are available to ages 10 through adult. An Intro to Hip-hop class is available for students 8 & 9.

Jazz

Jazz incorporates isolations of the torso and head as well as arms and legs. Jazz classes are available for ages 6 through adult.

Tap

Tap is the dance of sound and rhythm. Weight placement, style and patterns are all explored in this upbeat dance form. Beginning with basic movements and rhythms, students progress into faster-paced, more challenging combinations.

Pointe

Pointe (advanced dancing on the toes in specially constructed shoes) is available for ballet students who are a minimum of twelve years old, have met the length of study requirements and have passed a pointe evaluation.

Dance Movement and Pre-ballet

Age and developmentally appropriate classes are available from Dance Movement and Pre-ballet (ages 3-5) through Adult Beginning and Advanced classes.

Ballet

Ballet is often referred to as the backbone of dance training. It develops poise, coordination, flexibility, control and strength. Education in this dance form of royal origins provides students with the self-discipline that will serve them throughout life. We recommend ballet training for all students as this study will increase progress in all dance styles.

Cadets (age-appropriate ballet, tap and jazz)

Students explore concepts like size, shape, level, etc., through the use of props and creative activities that provide the age-appropriate fundamentals in dance. Students will learn and work on the 7 movements of dance: bending, rising, stretching, jumping, leaping, turning, and darting.

Explorer (pre-ballet and pre-tap)

Students explore concepts like size, shape, level, etc., through the use of props and creative activities that provide the age-appropriate fundamentals in dance. Students will learn and work on the 7 movements of dance: bending, rising, stretching, jumping, leaping, turning, and darting.

Rhythmic Movement (creative movement with rhythm [tap])

Students explore concepts like size, shape, level, etc., through the use of props and creative activities that provide the age-appropriate fundamentals in dance. Students will learn and work on the 7 movements of dance: bending, rising, stretching, jumping, leaping, turning, and darting.

Creative Movement

Ballet, Tap, and Jazz

Adult dancers enjoy relaxed, fun-filled classes in ballet, tap, and jazz with other adults in classes that meet your needs. You deserve this great way to add physical and mental stimulation and fun to your life!

Silver Stars Dancers Adults 55+

These dancers, ages 55+ enjoy classes, camaraderie and lots of performance opportunities full of fun. Classes in tap and jazz follow a range of dance and music styles to keep things lively. Stay active and engaged physically, mentally and socially with Silver Stars dance classes.

Dance With Me

In Dance with Me, parents and children share the joy of movement while keeping young children in their comfort zone. This class is a wonderful introduction to all the benefits of dance including developing coordination, balance, large and small motor skills as well as focusing and listening skills. Dance with Me gives parents and children that special bonding time together and prepares them for classes on their own.
