About Hui Kaululehua

Hui Kaululehua, based in Louisville, Kentucky, is a vibrant dance studio dedicated to the practice and perpetuation of authentic Hawaiian Hula. Welcoming students of all ages, the studio offers a comprehensive immersion into Hawaiian culture through dance and music. For adult beginners, Hui Kaululehua provides an introduction to Hula, exploring its history, foundational movements, traditional chants (oli), and simple choreography every second and fourth Saturday of the month. Complementing the dance, music classes are available: ʻAuana ʻukulele and mele (song) are taught on the first Saturday, while Kahiko ipu (drum) and oli (chant) are offered on the third Saturday. Young dancers, aged six and above, can join the Keiki Class, which offers a holistic approach to Hula, integrating chants, drumming, and the Hawaiian language and culture. Hui Kaululehua's curriculum embraces all facets of Hawaiian Hula, including aloha, kahiko, ʻauana, oli, music, and the spirit of ʻohana, fostering a deep appreciation for this beautiful art form and its rich heritage. Beyond instruction, the studio also makes its artistry available for various events, including theme parties, corporate events, and birthday celebrations. While specific instructor names are not detailed, interested individuals are encouraged to reach out for performance inquiries or to learn more about their educational and cultural sharing initiatives via message or email at info@huikaululehua.com.
