BALLET INTENSIVE 2025

This intensive ballet program is for students in 4th grade and up.

Adult Ballet Classes

This class is designed for “beginners” or those with previous experience who wish to eventually transition into the LCDA ballet curriculum or for those who wish to learn and refine the ballet basics. Participants in this class are not included in the studio recital.

1 class per week – 6th grade and up – 1 hour ballet class that meets once a week in 6 week sessions.
Tap IV

Advanced Tap for 6th grade and up with more than 3 years experience and by recommendation.

1 hour class that meets once a week.
Tap III

Intermediate/Advanced tap for 4th grade and up with at least 2 years experience in tap

Tap II

Beginner/Intermediate tap for 3rd grade and up

Contemporary

Contemporary dance is a mixture of modern, jazz and ballet. Strong ballet technique and physical strength is needed for this class.

Hip-Hop

This 30 – 45 minutes class is an ideal way to express one’s creativeness. The dancing represents body movements that go with the beat and rhythm of hip hop music. Not only is hip hop a good physical exercise, but it helps dancers to improve flexibility, to develop body balance, and to coordinate movements to a specific beat.

Jazz

This 30 – 60 minute class emphasizes lyrical, Broadway-style jazz, and traditional forms of jazz movement. Class structure is similar to a ballet class, beginning with a warm-up to increase flexibility, strength, and coordination; and emphasize proper body alignment. Center work combinations and large movement locomotor combinations across the floor complete the class. Jazz movements and costuming will always be tasteful and age appropriate to the class.

Ballet (Level III/ IV Recreational Level)

Must be at least 6th grade with at least 2-3 years of classical ballet training. One 1 hour and 15 minute ballet class per week. Can add additional classes with director’s approval. Level IIIA and IIIB students may take as an extra class to help strengthen their technique.

Ballet/Pointe (Level IV)

TRAINEE LEVEL–Ballet/Pointe (LABT SENIOR COMPANY and APPRENTICES) – 1 class option – 9th grade and up with at least 3-4 years of classical ballet training and at least 2-3 years of pointe. Two 1 hour and 30 minute ballet classes AND one 1 hour and 15 minute pointe class weekly. Can add jazz, tap, contemporary, variation’s class and/or Acro

Beginner Pointe Class

Student must have at least 3 years of consistent classical ballet training with good attendance, required strength, maturity and technique. Class meets once a week for 1 hour.

Ballet/Pointe (Level IIIB)

TRAINEE LEVEL, Ballet/Pointe (LABT JUNIOR COMPANY AND APPRENTICES) – 1 class option – 6th grade and up – Must have at least 3 years of classical ballet training and who are ready for pointe – Two 1 hour and 15 minute ballet classes AND one 1 hour and 15 minute pointe class weekly. (Those not beginning pointe will still attend the pointe class.) Can add jazz, hip hop, tap and/or Acro

Two 1 hour and 15 minute ballet classes AND one1 hour and 15 minute pointe ( or 1 hour beginning pointe) class weekly, meets three days a week.
Ballet (Level IIIA)

5th grade and up with at least 2 years of classical ballet training – 1 hour and 15 minute ballet class that meets twice a week. Can add jazz, hip hop, tap and/or Acro. May be invited to add “Beginning Pointe Class” which is a required additional class per week.

Kinderdance

A 30 minute class with a maximum enrollment of 12 – 14 students. These 30 minute classes introduce children to ballet basics and are somewhat more structured than the Pre-Kinderdance class. Includes learning proper warm-up techniques, fun floor activities to help develop strength and flexibility, basic ballet steps and body directions, and large movements across the floor. Must be age 5 by Sept. 30th

Pre-Kinderdance

A 30 minute class with maximum enrollment of 12 students. This class uses imaginative, fun musical activities to build strength, flexibility, and body awareness; and improve gross motor skills, coordination, and posture. Special musical activities help develop a child’s sense of rhythm and an awareness of the rich language of music. Includes floor work; basic, introductory ballet steps and vocabulary; and large movements across the floor. Children also learn to share space, time, and attention with their classmates. Must be age 4 by Sept. 30th

This thirty minute to one-hour class teaches tumbling and acrobatics by developing skill levels incrementally. Students begin each class with a floor warm-up that includes strengthening and flexibility movements specifically geared to acrobatics. Each student progresses at his or her own speed, using a syllabus that emphasizes safety in execution and mastery of a movement before progressing to the next level of difficulty. The acrobatic skills taught are compatible with ballet.
