CONSCIOUS DANCE

While any kind of dance can be conscious, this term is used to describe movement practices that emphasize embodiment, exploration, emotional processing, and a somatic approach. JourneyDance is a guided movement experience that flows through a variety of music and helps us access joy, freedom, curiosity, self-expression, and so much more. We release what no longer serves us and tap into our personal and collective power. Evolve ~ A Spiral Journey, a monthly offering also offers opportunities for conscious dance.

DANCE FITNESS

Dance fitness offers a cardio workout through easy-to-follow choreography. This form of dance is not about learning the steps; it's about a fun way to build cardiovascular endurance, strength, and coordination. Spiral Dance Fitness provides original choreography to catchy tunes, providing structure and freedom and a little extra strength work using resistance bands. Kukuwa Dance Fitness is an African-inspired dance program taught by Nick Aro that will have you smiling and sweating! Spiral Core Strength & Flow combines movements from yoga, Pilates, somatics, dance and fitness, an outside-the-box experience.

FREE FORM DANCE

Free form dance has no choreography to follow and minimal guidance. The music drives the experience where participants are encouraged to move in whatever way suits them. Whatever Moves You is fun and funky! We also offer opportunities for free form dance during special events and workshops, including the Play & Empower series at Spiral Studio where we combine instruction in basic dance movements with fitness dance and free form dance. We aim to find joy in movement as we connect with ourselves and others, inviting every body to move with freedom and authenticity.

JourneyDance™

At the Spiral Goddess Collective we teach JourneyDance™, which is considered to be a healing modality — it is guided movement, set to an eclectic and diverse set of music, that allows us to explore ourselves and connect with each other in a space held by the JourneyDance™ guide.

Yoga and Conscious Dance

Technically, any kind of dance and yoga—both forms of mind/body movement—can be done consciously by engaging the mind and body with attention and intention, emotion and expression, authenticity and embodiment. At SGC, yoga and dance are meant to make us feel good and help us to engage in the activities in our lives that bring us joy.

JourneyDance™ Transformational Dance Movement Flow

The JourneyDance™ Transformational Dance Movement Flow leads participants on a ritual journey of physical and emotional transformation. Through breath, sweat, and expression, you gain a palpable experience of yourself as pure powerful energy. In JourneyDance™, we dance without mirrors to release judgment of ourselves and others. JourneyDance™ is not about learning steps, it’s about revealing, recovering and re-discovering your natural intuitive movement.

Courses

Dance Fitness Instructor Training Program

This dance fitness instructor training strives to empower you with the tools to create and teach “free-style” dance fitness classes, drawing from any dance form (hip-hop, belly dance, burlesque, modern, jazz, etc.). In this teacher training you will learn the basics of working with music, creating and cueing choreography, structuring classes, and delivering a safe, effective, empowering workout. While the focus is on dance, these skills are adaptable to other styles of choreographed fitness teaching like kickboxing.
