Contemporary

Must take Ballet to take Contemporary. Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements.

Pointe

Admission by teacher recommendation/approval only. Offered to students that have attained the necessary strength and proficiency to progress to this level of classical training. Dancing "en pointe," is a major goal in a ballerina's dance life. Dancing on pointe, or your toes, requires tremendous strength of the legs and feet. Many ballet teachers have strict requirements for starting pointe work. Beginning pointe classes will be more demanding on your body, especially your feet.

Hip-Hop

Hip-hop dance refers to street dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music or that have evolved as part of hip-hop culture. It includes a wide range of styles primarily breaking, locking, and popping which were created in the 1970s and made popular by dance crews in the United States.

Jazz

Jazz is a form of dance with free movement and intriquite moves and steps. Jazz dancing is energetic and fun, consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps and quick turns. To excel in jazz, dancers need a strong background in ballet, as it encourages grace and balance.

Tap

Teaches rhythmic footwork in both the classical and urban styles. It enhances musicality, rhythm, and motor skills. Tap requires the use of the ankle to get the speed and sound needed to achieve proper tap dancing and get the great tap sounds you hear.

Ballet

Training and technique based on the classical positions of the feet and body in a system of progression. Ballet is a very slow graceful form of dance. Ballet requires turning, leaping and spotting. Ballet is the basic for all forms of dance.
