Classes

Privates and Semi-Privates

Private and Semi-Private lessons are unlike solos and duets, as they do not culminate in a dance in our year end Recital Showcase. Private and Semi-Private lessons are encouraged for dancers who want to concentrate on a specific aspect of their dancing and/or prepare for a school audition. They are also encouraged for students who enter the season late and want to catch up on all of the technique, choreography, and combos that their class has been working on since the fall. For multiple private lessons, see the solos class description. Fees are due in full upon scheduling and are non-refundable. Adult Drop-In Cards expire one year from the date of purchase.

Tap

Rhythmic patterns and musicality will be key in this class. Dancers will learn to tap to different music patterns and connect steps together.

Specialized Classes

With the uncertainty that Covid-19 brings us, we would like to offer the chance for you to create your own specialized class. Choose the small group of dancers you would feel comfortable dancing in the same room with, then choose your style of dance. We will cater to YOU! Days and times are limited, so first come first serve basis will be implemented. Must be a full year registration. Most Specialized Classes will be offered in the early-mid afternoon.

Sculpt and Tone

This class is designed to be a workout that uses all of the muscles you would use in a ballet class, without sticking to the rigid exercises and music you would typically find in your ballet barre work and center combos. This class begins with 10 minutes of low intensity/high intensity cardio to get your heart rate up. You will then progress through a series of center, barre, and floor exercises that will target your ‘ballet class’ muscles including your arms, lats, shoulders, obliques, abs, glutes, inner thighs, calves and ankles. Great for teens and adults, athletes and former athletes, dancers and non-dancers. No dance experience required.

Pointe

Pointe technique is the part of classical ballet technique that concerns pointe work, in which a ballet dancer supports all body weight on the tips of fully extended feet within pointe shoes. *Students enrolled in Pointe class MUST be registered in 1 ballet class and 1 conditioning class (Technique/Conditioning, Jumps/Leaps/Turns, or Sculpt and Tone.) **Artistic Director permission required to enroll in this class.

Musical Theater

Feel like you are on Broadway with this energetic style of dance. This class has a jazz base and teaches dancers how to perform to an audience as they learn different dances from musicals and Broadway shows.

Lyrical/Contemporary

In this combination class you will switch between two different styles of dance throughout the year. Lyrical dance is a series of movements that are performed to the lyrics in a given song. Learn to express and tell a story through this style as you flow through different movements. Lyrical takes the slow fluidity of ballet and mixes it with the turns and leaps of jazz, while contemporary combines modern, classical, and jazz elements. Contemporary dance can be done to music with or without lyrics.

Leaps/Turns/Technique

This is a technique class that focuses on the numerous technical elements needed to improve many of the “tricks” and turn combos you see in ballet, jazz, and lyrical dances. We will also work on stretching and expanding flexibility. Find ways to increase the power behind your jumps and leaps, while refining your center and balances in order to improve your turns.

Jazz

High-energy dance style with a focus on isolations, turns, kicks and leaps. Dancers will learn flexibility while also connecting different movements through combinations.

Hip Hop

A structured method of learning various Hip Hop movements, while providing an intense workout in an energetic environment. Dancers will have fun with this upbeat style as they learn combinations to popular and high-energy music!

Creative Movement

This class is designed for dancers ages 18 months-3 years and is a great introduction to music, movement, games, and following directions. We use a variety of props and music to help keep your little one engaged and moving for 30 minutes!

Ballet Technique/Conditioning

This class is designed to focus on the understanding of correct body placement, proper use of turn out, coordination of the upper body (epaulement), and use of arms (port de bras). We also focus on conditioning and strength training that is used to to provide a regimen of exercises for the development of a dancers physical endurance, strength, flexibility, and coordination. We focus on specific elements and repetition, as muscle memory is a key element to a strong technical dance foundation.

Ballet

Ballet focuses on allowing dancers to learn classical terminology and technique that is the foundation of the art of dance. Dancers will learn proper alignment, posture, and fluidity through a series of exercises that progress from the ballet barre to the center of the room and across the floor.

Aerial

In this class, aerialists will study using aerial fabrics/silks and the lyra. Students will go through a series of conditioning exercises at the start of each class to warm up their muscles and gain the strength and flexibility that will be needed on each piece of equipment. They will continue by warming up on each apparatus. Proper mats and pads will be used in both classes and performances. The class will progress to mounts, poses, moves & combos on the aerial silks, combining the rigor of aerial silks training with the fun and artistry of aerial dance. On the lyra, students will learn elements including mounts, spins, swings, dismounts, sequences and balancing skills.

Adult Combo

In this class, you will switch between learning Modern, Contemporary and Jazz combos! Enjoy improving your technique whether you’re new to the dance world, a college student who used to dance, or an adult that took recreational or competitive classes as a student and are just looking to get a little creative in your down time. Whatever the case may be, we are here to cater to you!

Acro

Take gymnastics to the dance floor in these classes. Each dancer works at their individual pace in this class where dancers will learn tumbling, both on and off mats. Participants in acro class will learn a wide range of skills from backbends, cartwheels, walkovers, aerials, back handsprings, partnering tricks, balances, and much more.

Pre Classes

These classes are designed for dancers ages 5 and 6. The Pre Classes are offered in multiple styles of dance including Ballet, Tap, Jazz/Hip Hop and Aerial. These classes are 30 minute classes which will allow your young dancers the opportunity to try multiple styles of dance to see where their passion lies, as well as prepare them for their next level of 60 minute classes. (Pre aerial is offered as a 60 minute class rather than the standard 90 minute aerial class.)
