Ballet Intensive

Students should dress as though they were going to a regular dance class; they do not, however, have to follow a dress code like they do within the regular dance season. See camp description for specific details.

Tap

Tap is a rhythmic style of dance, characterized by tap shoes striking the floor. The shoes have metal "taps" on the heel and toe and are used to make percussive sounds on hard floors. Tap is a very popular style of dance and great for coordination and developing rhythm.

Musical Theatre

Musical Theatre is a form of theatre combining music, songs, spoken dialogue, and dance. The emotional content of the piece – humor, pathos, love, anger – and story itself, are communicated through the words, music, movement, and technical aspects of the entertainment as an integrated whole.

Modern/Contemporary

Modern/Contemporary dance is a dance style that centers on a dancer's own interpretations instead of structured steps, as in traditional Ballet dancing. Taking Ballet in addition to Modern/Contemporary is highly encouraged.

Jumps, Tricks & Turns

Our Jumps, Tricks & Turns class was designed as a supplemental class for students who excel in their regular classes. Students work on perfecting harder turns, leaps, and other dance tricks that are not taught in our regular classes.

Jazz

Jazz is an energetic style of dance, which uses Ballet technique combined with current styles of dance. The class is upbeat and uses current music.

Hip Hop

Hip Hop is a relaxed freestyle form of dance, which uses your own personal rhythm and current dance moves. Our Hip Hop program is a high energy, upbeat dance class that will teach your dancer about the ideas behind Hip Hop dance and style while using current music selections that are age appropriate.

Ballet

Ballet is a classical form of dance which focuses on body alignment and technique. Barre, center floor, and progressions (movement across the floor) are used to develop technique.

Acrobatics

In our Acrobatics classes, students will learn how to do various Acro tricks, including back handsprings, front and back walk-overs, and more. These tricks are great skills to include in your next dance routine

Level 4 and up

At this point, each class will be based on age, technique, and discipline. Classes are taken more serious, and students should be appyling corrections each week. Students will remain in a Level for at least 3 years and will continue to stay until perfected. Advancement is the decision of the instructor, not the child or parent.

Level 3

Our Level 3 class is a combination of Ballet, Tap, and Jazz. The Ballet portion of class is usually 40 minutes long, Tap is 15-20 minutes, and Jazz is 15-20 minutes. The emphasis in Level 3 is on Ballet, as we believe a strong Ballet base will make our dancers better in other styles.

Level 2

EDSA's Level 2 classes are designed to focus on body alignment and technique and prepare students to start taking corrections. This class consists of 30-40 minutes of Ballet (stretching, barre, center and across the floor), 15-20 minutes of Tap, and 5 minutes of free dance time.

Primary

Our Primary class incorporates the practice of gross motor and fine motor skills, with attention given to Ballet and Tap technique. The program also encourages social skills such as taking turns, cooperation, and friendly words and actions. Primary class consists of 30-40 minutes of Ballet, 15-20 minutes of Tap, and Creative Movement dance for 5-8 minutes.

Creative Movement

Our youngest students truly enjoy this first-time dance class experience! Activities are geared towards the familiarity of having a teacher, learning with other classmates, and fun instruction! Class includes stretching, basic ballet, ribbons, parachute, and other creative dances. Maximum class size for Creative Movement is 6 tots to 1 teacher and 1 assistant.

Parent & Me

Students in our Parent & Me class participate in a fun Creative Movement class with their mom, dad, grandparent or guardian. Students learn fun dances while being introduced to Ballet basics.
