The middle school classes start dancing twice a week and study ballet, pointe, jazz, and tap.

5th Grade Class - Ballet, Pre-Pointe, Tap, and Jazz

This class starts pre-pointe focusing on exercises for the toes, feet, ankles, and calves to get ready for pointe work. They also do ballet barre exercises and center work. Jazz includes a warmup with stretches, isolations, traveling across the floor, and floor exercises. Tap steps include the classics like cramp roll, buffalo, Broadway, Cincinnati, and Maxi Ford. We do combinations that travel and include kicks. We work on different rhythms and timing.

3rd and 4th Grade Classes - Ballet and Jazz

These classes continue on with their ballet curriculum focusing on strengthing their core and working on their balance, doing pirouettes, graceful flowing adagios, longer leaping combinations. They also start jazz doing stretching, traveling across the floor and combinations center.

2nd Grade Class - Ballet and Tap

The class is now an hour long and we focus on a more classical ballet curriculum. Barre work, center adagio, petit allegro, traveling combinations, spotting turns, and leaps. In tap the steps get more complex and faster challenging the dancers to remember longer sequences of steps.

1st Grade Class - Ballet and Tap

The 1st Grade class does exercises at the barre - plies, tendus, degages, and rond de jambes. We work on balancing in releve and passé. Center combinations includes port de bras, pas de bourrees, arabesques, and echappes. We introduce leaping along with other traveling combinations. Tap steps are now combination steps like waltz clogs and shuffle ball change shuffle hop down. We work on synchronizing the tap steps with the whole class.

Ballet and Tap

This class builds on the 4 year old class, adding more ballet positions for feet and arms and more exercises at the barre. Center work includes an adagio and jumps. Lots of traveling around the room doing combinations of steps like 4 skips and 4 chasses. Tap includes flaps, shuffle hops, shuffle ball change, and many combinations. We start on traveling tap steps like flap heel moving forward and shuffle hop back.

Ballet and Tap

This class starts with a floor stretch and then we move to the ballet barre for the basic ballet exercises. Center work includes balancing, slow and fast movements, jumping. We travel across the floor walking like a dancer, doing chasses, skipping. We teach dances to classical and popular music. Tap includes basic steps like heel and toe drops, shuffle steps, heels front, jump out and in.

Preballet

This class starts as a Mom and Me class for the first couple of classes to get the students familiar with the studio and the teacher. We start with the basic ballet positions for feet and arms, work on plies and releves. We add tendus, arabesques, sautés and echappes. We travel around the room. We work on little songs with words and steps.

Mom and Me Preballet

Our 2 year old class focuses on learning the basics about being in a dance class. We teach how to listen to a teacher, stand on your spot, make a circle, follow the leader. We teach basic movement walking, marching, tippytoe walking. Little songs teach the basic ballet positions.
