Academy of Dance

Our Star Team is for our newest competitors, as well as anyone who would like to try competition, but not make it a full time commitment. Requirements include auditions, a minimum of one year dance experience, ages 4-12 years, a minimum of one dance classes required per week, and must have a technique class in the performance subject, attend two-three regional competitions each year, with optional attendance at Nationals on alternating years, and attend a minimum of one summer dance camp or class, held at Academy of Dance in Brighton. No one may enroll in a Star level class without prior instructor approval.

The Ballet Program here at Academy of Dance is full of great experiences for dancers of all ages. They must audition, attend rigorous rehearsals, assist with creating and constructing props and scenery, and during the full-length performances they will be giving backstage jobs as well. This gives each dancer a sense of pride in their roles both on stage and off. Each year we put on the Nutcracker in December and an ever-changing Spring ballet in May.

An intermediate level class for ages 12 and up, combining the dynamic movements of Jazz with the street styles of Hip Hop.

An intermediate level class for ages 7-11, merging the percussive rhythms of Tap dance with the urban energy of Hip Hop.

A class for ages 9-14 that combines Musical Theater and Jazz dance styles, suitable for beginner to intermediate levels.

A level 2 class for ages 7-11 focusing on Pom and Contemporary dance techniques, designed for students with some prior dance experience.

An intermediate level class for adults focusing on Jazz and Contemporary dance movements, providing a challenging and expressive experience.

An intermediate level class for ages 6-9, focusing on the energetic and rhythmic styles of Pom and Hip Hop dance.

The Elite Team is recommended for our experienced competitors, as well as those who are ready to make a more full time commitment to dance. Minimum of three classes required per week, one must be a technique class in the performance subject for Elite.

The Pre-Elite Team is recommended for our less experienced competitors, as well as those who just moved up from the Star Team. Minimum of two classes required per week, one must be a technique class in the performance subject for Pre-Elite.

Acrobatic dance class for beginners at Level 1/2, focusing on foundational acrobatic skills.

An intermediate level tap dance class for adults, focusing on rhythm, footwork, and musicality.

Elite/Pre.Co Jazz Tech class for students focusing on advanced jazz techniques.

A beginner level introductory class for 2-3 year olds, designed to introduce fundamental dance movements in a fun and engaging environment.

Pre. Elite Jazz Tech class designed for advanced jazz training.

A beginner level class for 4-6 year olds, introducing the foundational techniques of both Ballet and Jazz dance.

Advanced Ballet Technique class for students at Level 2-3, focusing on refined movements and posture.

Intermediate Ballet Technique class for students at Level 1-2, building foundational ballet skills.

Intermediate Pre-Pointe Technique class for Level 1-2 students, preparing for pointe work.

Pointe and Variations class for advanced ballet dancers at Level 2-3, exploring pointe work and classical variations.

Intermediate to Advanced Ballet Technique class for students at Level 2-3, enhancing ballet skills.

Pre-Company and Company Jazz Technique class for students preparing for professional performances.
