Intermediate Adult Ballet

Feeling nostalgic while looking at old dance pictures of you from high school? You're not the only one! We cater this class to the general ability level of the group as a whole. The class starts out slow, but curriculum will build quickly as dancers start to remember their roots. Enjoy the structure of a classic ballet class without the pressure of a performance.

Progressions

A class for kids who like to keep it moving! With an upbeat, energized flow, dancers will learn and drill technical skills as well as combine new and old steps across the floor. Dancers looking to snag an additional, fun technique class throughout their dance week should give this a try!

Strengthening

This class is designed to benefit anyone looking to advance their technique in any genre of dance, but focuses on perfecting acrobatic technique. With an emphasis on both flexibility and strength, this class helps give dancers a strong foundation for their acrobatic classes. Open to all ages and levels.

Conditioning

Crunches and leg lifts and jumping jacks, oh my! Come tighten everything up with this high energy, endurance-boosting, dance-centered toning class. Sweat guaranteed!

Cecchetti Ballet

Named after Italian ballet master Encrico Cecchetti, Cecchetti classes help strengthen, sharpen, and push technique. These classes are non-performance classes for more disciplined ballet dancers looking to go through additional training. Dancers will participate in seasonal examinations that award certification up through Grade 6.

Tap Technique

This class focuses on the fine motor skills of tapping, and tapping quickly. Center floor exercises such as ankle rolls, time-step battles, and Simon Says step-learning are incorporated with traveling steps that are observed by the teacher as the student practices them across the floor. Perfect your coordination with this brain-busting class.

Jazz Technique

A technique-based class involving vigorous warm-up, deep stretching, and the education of various kinds of jumps, turns, and kicks. Class begins center floor and ends by demonstrating techniques learned in the duration of the class.

Acro

Acrobatics is a style of dance that blends classical dance technique with precision acrobatic elements. Focusing on the strength, flexibility, and control of the body, acrobatics is an intricate discipline that allows dancers to push themselves to new limits. Although acrobatics can be defined by it's athletic character, it is also a unique art form that allows dancers to tell stories through their acrobatic skills. Acro can help build the strength and flexibility needed to compliment all other styles of dance.

Pointe

Pointe or “toe” dancing is often a the epitome of the ballet genre. This class offers instruction on how to navigate a pointe shoe and the proper technique of how these shoes operate while the dancer is rehearsing. Learn how to transfer the genre of ballet from the top of your head to the tips of your toes – literally! Ballet experience and teacher approval required.

Improv.

That whole "dance like nobody's watching" thing? Yep. That's this class! Dancers learn to move freely and allow themselves to be guided by the music. This class also offers an amazing opportunity for students to gain confidence, all while expressing their inner dancer.

Modern

Modern deals with more abstract movement that strays away from ballet technique. This genre is very grounded and "pedestrian-like." No shoes required for this class, just an open mind.

Musical Theater

Love the theater? We do too! Want your dancer to have a little bit of experience before they audition for that school play? Come take a musical theater class! Learn the art of lip-synching and basic stage movement, all while enjoying the tunes of musical favorites!

Contemporary

Arguably the most popular genre trending today, contemporary has evolved into its own stunning world of possibilities. The genre stems from ballet and modern techniques, but ultimately never stays in one place. It is often combined with other genres (including jazz, hip hop, and acro) for extra flare, so every contemporary teacher/choreography teacher will offer something different. Often described as a “therapeutic form of dance,” this genre truly allows for more serious dancers to put their feelings into their movement and do some of their best work! This class is for students who have had at least 1 year of ballet training (preferably more) and are ready to break out of their shell and be their expressive selves. Students must take a ballet class in conjunction with contemporary to be enrolled.

Hip-Hop

You thought jazz was high energy? Fasten your seatbelts for this explosive genre! Hip hoppers are taught at a young age how to strengthen their core and coordination with appropriate conditioning. This strength and coordination will enable them to learn how to properly execute stalls, kip-ups, the worm, and several other fun moves. Dancers will learn to locate and move to the beat of pop/hip-hop/clean rap music all while building endurance and having an awesome time in the process! Performance skills necessary.

Jazz

Ready to take your ballet training to the next level and dance to some upbeat music? Jazz students will incorporate more conditioning, strength training, and stretching into their dance curriculum, and will learn the fundamentals of turning, kicking, jumping, and having a blast! Students have an opportunity to let loose and discover their personal style so that our instructors can encourage them to let it free in these high energy classes!

Tap

Unlike ballet (though we still use that core strength and solid arm placement that comes from ballet), tap focuses more intensely on timing, rhythm, and strength of sound. Students will learn to understand timing, and the way tap sounds combine with a song to make different rhythms. They will be expected to learn and memorize individual and combination steps across and center floor. Over time and throughout each level dancers will learn how to properly direct their energy into the floor while keeping eyes up, how to clarify and emphasize sounds, how to balance and coordinate, and how to become a master of rhythm!

Ballet Variations

Arguably the most important class of all - Ballet Variations centers around learning and building a dancer's foundational technique, using a variety of methods including but not limited to Cecchetti, Vaganova, and Ballanchine. In this class, dancers will learn to understand their bodies and how it relates to movement, working to create proper placement and alignment using theory and guided barre, center floor, and traveling combinations.

Ballet

We believe ballet is the foundation that a dancer requires to be successful in all other genres of dance. It is the core of a solid dance education. Our classic program combines both Cecchetti and Russian methods of ballet. Dancers from our kinder level all the way through our advanced groups work to build strength in their core, to better understand their bodies, and to master technique of the movement while still being allowed the freedom to express. We strive for a balance of discipline and fun. Students should expect to learn and memorize ballet terminology, participate in barre and center floor exercises, and to fall in love with the lovely classical style that is ballet.
