Ballet & Tap Combination

This class is a combination of Ballet and Tap with approximately a half hour of each. This is a more advanced class continuation of the Preschool Combination Class and focuses on more difficult steps, the execution of these steps and balance.

Pre-school Combination

Pre-school Combination I , II & III This class consists of a combination of Ballet, Tap and Tumbling. The majority of concentration is on Ballet and Tap with about 20-25 minutes of each. Then we wrap up the class with approx. 10 minutes of Tumbling. In Ballet and Tap we focus on learning the basic movements and the fundamental steps. Students learn the correct names for each step and learn how to execute them correctly in a way that they can understand. In Tumbling we focus on basic movement and strength exercises along with somersaults and cartwheels.

Smooth & Latin Ballroom

The Latin class teaches rhythm partner dances such as the Cha Cha, Mambo, Salsa, Rumba, and Tango. The Smooth Ballroom class teaches partner dances including Waltz, Fox Trot and Swing (Lindy Hop or Jitter Bug). Each style focuses on partnering skills and technique. We also offer special occasion choreography classes in Smooth and Latin Ballroom for weddings, anniversaries, parties and event entertainment.

Clogging

There are two very different forms of clogging, both of which we teach. The First is West Virginia Flat Foot Clogging. This is danced mostly to country style music. The Second is Celtic Clogging which is performed to Celtic music similar to “Riverdance”. Both are a variation of Tap Dancing. The class consists of barre or center floor warm-ups, across the floor progressions, center floor combinations and technique and learning a routine for performances.

Tumbling

Tumbling is the study of floor gymnastics. In this class students start by leaning somersaults, cartwheels, round offs and back bends progressing to front and back walkovers, front and back hand springs, front and back tucks (flips) and many other skills. Students progress at their own pace with helpful guidance. Each class begins with warm ups and strength training and then we work with each student individually on each skill.
