Turning Pointe School of Dance, a distinguished institution in Holland, Michigan, has been cultivating artistic excellence and fostering Christian faith development since its founding in 1999. More than just movement, Turning Pointe nurtures the spirit, encouraging dancers to reflect love and beauty through their art. The studio instills discipline and valuable skills applicable to diverse careers, from professional dance to law. Offering a rich curriculum, Turning Pointe provides classes in Ballet, Hip Hop, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Musical Theater, and Barre, catering to dancers of all ages from 3 and older. Our accomplished faculty includes Executive Director Debra Burr and Creative Director Kaylin Bazick, alongside talented instructors Gretchen Ames, Emilee Bowden, Maggie Mallery, Rachel Mokma, Christianna Ransom, Tahlia TenBrink, and Gabrielle Thomas. Administrative support is provided by Kathy Boogaard and Kathy Klinger. Turning Pointe emphasizes dance fundamentals, etiquette, and self-discipline within a supportive, fun, Christian environment. Recreational Ballet classes run weekly, culminating in a Christmas performance and an End of Year Showcase. We proudly partner with numerous Homeschool Programs, including Grand Haven Online, Hamilton Virtual School Program, iCademy Global, Jenison International Academy, Niles Virtual School, Saugatuck Public Schools, and West Ottawa Virtual Academy. The studio offers family and multi-class discounts. Detailed dress codes and schedules for both Holland and Hudsonville locations are available. Classes

Recreational Ballet

Recreational Ballet classes are held once-a-week for ages 3 and older. Our curriculum focuses on fundamentals of the style along with class etiquette and self-discipline in a supportive and fun, Christian environment. Classes run through the school year. Students perform a dance for the parents at the end of class in November to kick off the Christmas season and also perform in the End of Year Showcase.

Beginner Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop and Musical Theatre

Our beginner ballet, jazz, hip hop and musical theatre classes provide fun, family-friendly, energetic ways to explore a love of movement, and introduce dance technique in that selected genre. No experience is required and dress code may be any color leotard and tights, or a plain fitted tee shirt and leggings. Shoes not required for summer dance camp. Our highly trained teachers are eager to share their expertise and love of dance with students.

Contemporary dance

Training Division is the Lakeshore’s preeminent pre-professional ballet and contemporary dance program, and designed for dancers who seek a deeper commitment to their training.

Ballet

Our Training Division classes are ideal for students pursuing excellence in classical ballet, with opportunities to perform in our seasonal productions.

Tap

Recreational Tap classes are held once-a-week for ages 5 and older. Students learn foundational tap steps, rhythms, and combinations while developing timing, coordination, and musicality. Classes focus on fun, expression, and confidence in a supportive and Christian environment.

Musical Theatre

Recreational Musical Theatre classes are held once-a-week for ages 6 and older. This class combines dance, drama, and expression as students learn to bring characters and stories to life through movement and performance in a supportive and fun, Christian environment.

Recreational Jazz classes are held once a week for ages 5 and older. Students explore upbeat movement, isolations, and expressive choreography while learning jazz fundamentals and performance technique in a supportive and fun Christian environment.

Hip-Hop

Recreational Hip-Hop classes are held once a week for ages 5 and older. Students learn age-appropriate, high-energy choreography focused on rhythm, musicality, and performance quality. Dancers are encouraged to express their personality while practicing coordination and teamwork in a supportive and fun, Christian environment.

Courses

Storytime Ballet Sessions

These once-a-week classes, three times a year for eight-weeks. These classes are for students who are two years old by the first day of class. Students practice listening skills during the brief story time, and then develop motor skills during the story-themed dance and movement activities.
