With over 30 years of teaching experience, co-owners Sandy Vandermeer and Suzy Gianino bring a wealth of expertise. Sandy, a specialist in tap and jazz, has earned numerous choreography awards and national titles. Suzy, a former competitive figure skater, expertly blends her dance training with her skating background, specializing in jazz, tap, and ballet. Their students have a strong track record of success, with many receiving college scholarships and pursuing professional careers. Gotta Dance offers a comprehensive dance education in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Hip Hop, and Acrobatic Dance, focusing on technique, musicality, rhythm, coordination, and expressive capabilities. Specialized adaptive dance programs, "My Time To Shine" and "Always Shine," foster self-expression, social skills, and confidence in children, teens, and young adults with special needs. For dedicated students, a competitive program is available through audition or invitation, requiring a commitment of two days per week with foundational ballet and jazz classes, and optional lyrical and tap. Classes

Tap

Lyrical and tap are optional. During the year students will compete at up to three local competitions and attend dance conventions.

Ballet and Jazz

Students are required to dance two days per week - taking two ballet and jazz classes. Lyrical and tap are optional. During the year students will compete at up to three local competitions and attend dance conventions.

Always Shine

Always Shine adaptive dance class was designed for teens and young adults with special needs. We teach the basics of dance while incorporating social skills, self-confidence, the use of imagination and personal expression. Guys and gals are welcome!

My Time To Shine

My Time to Shine adaptive dance class was created to teach children with special needs ages 3 and older to express themselves through dance. This class allows each child to work at their own pace. We will focus on each child's abilities, not disabilities. Every accomplishment will be celebrated!

Acro

Basic and advanced tumbling movements are taught on floor mats and then put into progressive combinations.

Hip Hop

One of the most popular dance forms today...hip-hop is street dancing that incorporates the break down of dance moves, which are then put into fun and fast paced combinations. Hip-hop teaches and improves rhythm and coordination.

Lyrical

An expressive form of dance that combines ballet and jazz techniques while telling a story to the audience. Lyrical is extremely technical and emphasizes the importance of fluidity in dance. It is suitable only for students with experience in ballet and jazz.

Tap

Technique, musicality, rhythm and coordination are all focused on in tap class. Students are introduced to tap steps ranging from beginning to the most complex, and apply the learned material during a warm up, center floor and combinations.

Jazz

A jazz warm up, progressions across the floor and combinations ranging from the most technical to stylized are introduced. Jazz fuses together technique and style, with a focus on stage presence.

Ballet

Ballet training is essential to a dancer's progress. It teaches and improves coordination, flexibility and musicality, as well as develops and strengthens the muscles. Ballet class consists of barre and center work.
