About Janet's School of Dance

Janet's School of Dance, located in Taylor, Michigan, has been a cornerstone of dance education and community engagement since its grand opening on June 11th, 1977. Founded by Janet Del Grosso, the studio has nurtured a love for dance across generations, fulfilling a lifelong dream. Under the artistic direction of Janet Vilag, who has been teaching since 1971 and leading the studio since 1976, Janet's School of Dance offers a rich curriculum with a diverse range of styles including Ballet, Hip-hop, Jazz, Lyrical, Tap, Baton, Clogging, Modeling, Folk Dance, Hawaiian Dance, Acrobatics, Modern, Pointe, Polish Dance, Latin Dances, and Flamenco. Students of all ages can participate in both group and private lessons, taught by a talented team of instructors. Lucia Jelsomeno teaches a wide array of styles, while Megan Viceli specializes in Hawaiian dance, and Michael Arendt instructs hip-hop and jazz. The studio emphasizes affordability and provides quality dance training in a supportive environment. Janet's School of Dance also features specialized programs such as Competition Classes for its Angels, Shakers, and Show Team, as well as Combo Classes. A competitive spirit has been present since its early days with the formation of the "Angels" competition team and the "Janet's Twirling Sweethearts" parade corps, which has maintained its iconic uniform for over four decades. The studio has affiliations with the "World Twirling Association," "Dance Masters of Michigan-America," and "Dance Educators of America." Janet's School of Dance remains committed to the community, actively participating in local parades, supporting fundraisers, performing for senior citizens, and sponsoring the Special Olympics.
