The Dance Unit, nestled in Hugo, Minnesota, is dedicated to fostering a safe, positive, and nurturing environment for dancers of all ages and ambitions. We believe in celebrating individual strengths while building a strong sense of community and teamwork, offering a high-quality dance education that imparts life skills extending far beyond the studio. Our comprehensive program nurtures talent at all levels, serving the Northeast suburbs of the Twin Cities. We offer a variety of programs, including recreational classes for our youngest dancers, such as Tiny Tots (ages 2-3) exploring creative movement and basic tumbling, and Preschoolers (ages 3-5) enjoying a fun combination of Tap, Ballet, and tumbling. For Kindergarten through 2nd graders, we provide a 45-minute class blending introductory Tap, Ballet, Jazz, and tumbling. For adults aged 18 and over, we offer foundational and intermediate Tap, as well as a dynamic Hip Hop and Jazz combination class in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. The Dance Unit also boasts a competitive dance program, the Competition Company, providing advanced training in Tap, Jazz, Lyrical/Contemporary, and Ballet, with an optional Hip Hop component. These dedicated teams compete locally and nationally, with Pre-Competitive teams participating in regional events. We encourage individual growth through solos, duets, and trios, and offer weekly technique private lessons. Our studio features three distinct dance rooms equipped with sprung marley flooring, mirrors, professional sound systems, and LED lighting. Parents can relax in the spacious lobby with ample seating and large viewing windows. Audition classes for the 2026-2027 summer season will open in March.
