RJ's Dance Studios (Ellisville)

The RJ's Hip Hop Crew is a performance-based group and is generally for ages 8 and up. The crew focuses on learning and expanding skills in hip hop and performance. Good attendance, positive attitude, and willingness to learn are all important aspects to the team.

Dancers wishing to audition are encouraged to attend open ballet and jazz classes during the summer.

It is recommended that dancers have at least one year of tap/ballet/jazz combo class prior to auditioning for the team. This team opportunity is open to all current and new students enrolling in RJ's Ellisville or RJ's Chesterfield.

Dancers in elementary school are eligible to enroll in a Hip Hop Class. Hip Hop classes will engage dancers with high-energy combos and learn to keep rhythm, follow choreography, and develop body control.

Dancers in elementary school are eligible to enroll in a Tap/Ballet/Jazz Combo class. Tap/Ballet/Jazz Combo classes will emphasize the three important dance genres to create well-rounded dancers. Dancers will also learn stretching techniques, concentration, rhythm, coordination, and discipline within each genre.

Diva & Dude Hip Hop classes are an introduction to the Hip Hop style. Dancers will be engaged with high-energy combos and learn to keep rhythm, follow choreography, and develop body control. This class will perform one routine in one of our June recital shows.

Tap/Ballet Combo classes will introduce important dance basics such as stretching, concentration, rhythm, coordination, and discipline within each genre. The purpose of this class is to provide a strong foundation for continued dance training as well as develop a love for the art of dance itself. This class will perform one tap routine and one ballet routine in one of our June recital shows.

Our Pre-K classes are designed for 4 year old dancers and those 5-year-old dancers who miss the Kindergarten cut-off for the school year. Pre-K dancers are establishing and developing many important social, cognitive, physical, and gross motor skill sets that will be used for dance and in the real world! Pre-K classes will focus on a combination of ballet and tap skills, as well as light tumbling skills.

Enrolling your 3 or 4-year-old, first-time dancer in a dance class is more than just hopping around to fun music. Your dancers are establishing and developing many important social, cognitive, physical, and gross motor skill sets that will be used for dance and in the real world!

Competition Team Dancers refer to competition information regarding the structure of competitive team classes. This pricing structure is based on the total number of family hours taken per week. Discounts are available for multiple classes and siblings.

As a member of Expressions, Katie was fortunate enough to choreograph numerous pieces and teach classes to the campus population. Post graduation, Katie moved back to St. Louis to work for Weissman, one of the most prominent dance apparel companies in the industry, where she works on set choreographing for photography and video.

She is also on faculty at Webster University teaching jazz in the dance department.

She moved on to a ballet company in high school and began participating in musicals as well. Gretchen is a graduate of Webster University and holds a BFA in dance.

Miss Gretchen Stanton grew up in Chicago and moved to Memphis as a young girl. She was enrolled in a classical ballet academy at the age of two because her grandmother was a dancer.

Dana took all subjects of dance throughout her life, such as Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Acro and of course Ballroom. Dana also trained with many teachers in the New York City area such as Mr. Al Gilbert, Charles Kelley, the Hoctor Family, and many other renowned instructors. She has always stayed faithful to her teacher and mentor Miss Dorothy who is still teaching in the Westchester area of NY.

Chris has training in Tap, Jazz, and Ballet, but his professional career and passion lies in TapDance and Body Percussion. He also helped co-write, co-produce, and co-choreograph performances and full length stage shows for the leading step/body percussion group MOLODI.

When she is not serving as the Competition Assistant Director at RJs, she enjoys teaching classes as a Pure Barre instructor and spending time with her Goldendoodle, Sunny.

We believe in quality and proper technical training. We know that well-rounded dancers who excel on outside dance teams do so because they receive proper technique in multiple genres.

One of Miss Renee's favorite parts of the job is being in the classroom and teaching our youngest dancers! She has cultivated a dance environment that nurtures every dancer and has built a unique dance network.

RJ's offers many team opportunities beyond the regular educational program. We believe in creating well-rounded dancers in all styles of dance built on strong ballet fundamentals. At RJ's, we strive to make dance fun, however, our dancers are truly getting an education in proper dance technique from their very first class.
