SUR LE POINTE (toe shoes)

Pointe work is available as part of the intermediate and advanced class curriculum. The student must have several years of proper ballet training, and will be notified by the ballet instructor when ready to start pointe. It is required that the students be enrolled in a minimum of two ballet classes per week to prevent injury. The two classes must be ballet, and not other dance forms. It is important to note that consuming Fire School of Dance will not place students on pointe before they are fully prepared. Our students must pass their grade one exam and be at least 12 years old before being considered for pointe shoes. This form of advanced ballet requires strength, technique and correct posture.

ballet-CECCHETTI SYLLABUS (8yrs - advanced)

Cecchetti method offers class levels that progress from Grades/Levels I - VII and Diploma levels. Students will be expected to memorize terms, as well as “barre” and “centre” combinations from a syllabus book, which will need to be purchased at the start of the year. When the students are prepared, they will be presented before a professional examiner to administer a nationally certified exam. Depending upon the dancers natural ability, students can progress through a level anywhere between one and two years. It is important to note that the instructor will make the decision on when a dancer is prepared to take an exam. The Cecchetti Council has age limitations on their ballet exams. A student must be a minimum of age 10 and have been trained in the grade one syllabus in order to take their Grade One Exam. The Pre-Grade One Syllabus is separated into Primary One, Primary Two and Primary Three. Primary One—ages 5-7 Primary Two—ages 6-8 Primary Three—ages 7-10 Graded Syllabus One through Diploma starting at age 10 and over.

CLOGGING

This class is based off of the Appalachian clogging style. Clogging has tap basic steps, and utilizes specific clogging shoes with a double tap. Clogging classes offer a unique blend of physical fitness, mental engagement, and cultural appreciation. As a rhythmic and energetic dance style, clogging is fun, expressive, and accessible to people of all ages and skill levels.

Jazz class

Jazz classes are offered in addition to the core curriculum. In addition to working with musical phrasing and beats, a strong technical base is needed. By combining technical skill, physical fitness, and expressive creativity, jazz dance helps students grow into well-rounded performers while fostering life skills such as confidence, discipline, and teamwork. It’s a fun, energetic way to explore the art of dance while reaping lifelong benefits.

Hip-Hop

Hip-Hop offers additional training to students, to increase their dance skills. Hip-hop dance is an exciting and empowering style that not only strengthens the body but also enriches the mind and spirit. It teaches individuality, creativity, and confidence while connecting dancers to a vibrant and dynamic culture.

Tap Graded Syllabus

The tap technique offers class levels that progress from Grades/Levels I - VIII, based on skill. This provides a strong foundation, and continually increases the students abilities. Students will be placed in classes which have the syllabus to accommodate their ability. Ages may vary.

Acrobatics

Acrobatic Arts or “Acro” is the fusion athleticism , agility, and strength through acrobatic skills, that despite being technically difficult to execute, acro tricks are meant to blend in seamlessly providing an extra level of excitement and flair to choreography. Acro also focuses more on tricks that defy the center of gravity, whereas gymnastics tricks are meant to be executed in straight lines. Acro has softer, more lyrical looking lines, with the emphasis being on lengthening “through” the tricks and holding pretty balances with interesting variations.

Grade school Tap & Ballet combo

Tap and ballet develop core strength, balance, flexibility, and a strong sense of rhythm. Memorizing choreography enhances memory and concentration as children learn to recall sequences of steps. Together, tap and ballet provide a well-rounded foundation in dance, combining technical discipline with dynamic movement and rhythm. The skills gained through these practices extend beyond dance, positively impacting academics, personal relationships, and overall life skills.

Pre-school/Kindergarten (ages 3 -5) Tap-Ballet-tumbling

The emphasis of this class will be on left/right understanding, body coordination and basic ballet and tap movements. The tumbling skills utilize gross motor skills for coordination, and motor skill development.
