Jazz

Jazz dance is a freedom-loving, movement-loving tradition. Our jazz classes provide a balance of strength and flexibility, endurance conditioning, and neuromuscular coordination.

Hip Hop

Hip Hop can be one specific style or a general blend of many. We focus on a Jazz Funk core, intricate footwork, physical fitness, and the freedom of dance expression called freestyle. We also introduce popping, locking, tutting, waving, and shuffling. We offer a variety of Hip Hop Classes at multiple skill levels.

Lyrical Dance

In Lyrical Dance the quality of movement is closely connected to the style of music and the interpretation of the lyrics. The dance form possesses a fluid quality, but also uses the dynamics and accents of the music to convey the emotions of the song and communicate the story to the audience.

Contemporary

Contemporary and Lyrical Dance are interpretive forms of expression. These disciplines use applied techniques that borrow from ballet, jazz, modern, and other world dance forms. In Contemporary Dance you see strong leg work, floor work, fall and recovery, as well as improvisation.

Tap

FLBA primarily teaches contemporary tap. This is the most popular style at workshops, on television, on Broadway and in the movies. Our main objective is to create a rhythm tapper, with a varied background including ballet, jazz, and other various skills. We focus on total body movement, placing the emphasis on technical correctness, while performing the sounds of tap on the balls of the feet.

Ballet

FLBA teaches primarily a Vaganova syllabus, with influences of Royal Ballet (French method) and Cecchetti. Being a ballet-forward studio, we offer multiple ballet classes at varying levels. Some of our other disciplines include ballet as a requirement. This is because we believe the core skills a dancer obtains in ballet are beneficial to all other dance styles.
